  1. Right. I'm sick of these tossers making me look like a goon every week with my way-off predictions so I'm changing tack. 0-3. Have some of that you fuckers. Oh, and keep the faith.
  2. *EDIT* Second time around cos he was pretty good last time. TBF to the lad, the whole team are playing like fucktards
  3. In terms of strikers plying their trades elsewhere - CD I get the confusion there cos it puzzles the fuck out of me why he left. Eaves? Forget it. The lad's been dog wank at Shrewsbury since he arrived.
  4. Mike Bassett did alright but I think he'd get found out picking sides off fag packets in the modern game. Especially as e-cigs appear to be all the rage these days. Plus, his sidekick Bradley Walsh? Isn't he contracted to The Chase?
  5. Lowest home gate of the season gets to see a rare home win. And even, possibly, a clean sheet. 1-0 and a much needed three points going into the Burnley game, where, buoyed by the weekend result - the Whites win 4-0 in front of 28,750 (Bogdan (2), Craig Davies & Tierney from his wheelchair)
  6. I'll bet it's a lot less fun playing the REAL Dougie ATM
  7. amazing how folk moved around all the time. I'm no different. First ever game at BP was with me granddad on th'Embankmeant as he used to call it in Dec '72. Then into Lever end and started going in the seats (MR first then BS) for a couple of seasons. There wasn't a part of Burnden that I didn't go in - perhaps the exception being MRS terrace, not sure. There were some rum owd games and it always had that intimidation factor for the biggest ones. I think I was only ever fearful there once and that's when United rocked up in the mid 70's and packed the place out. Their reputation then went everywhere. Never, and I mean NEVER, would you replicate a rocking Burnden atmosphere at the Reebok. As futuristic as it still is for a 17 year old stadium (!) it's just never ever managed to get anything going. Like a day at the library compared.
  8. From someone who watches L1 football at Shrewsbury week in, week out, anyone thinking L1 for Wanderers would be akin to a walk in the park, think again. The Wurzels probably thought the same last year when they fell through the trap door. They've only just climbed out the bottom four! To be replaced by.... Sheffield United. It's a bloody tough league, and when you're everybody's Cup Final (Wolves are finding that out) it's owt but straight forward. Survival in the Championship is a must - we don't have the support of the Southampton's, Norwich's Leicester's, Forest's, Wolves, Leeds and Citeh's of this world. They all dropped and came back better for it - we could go like Portsmouth with the perilous state of our finances
  9. Reference one of the earlier posts about a basic salary. As an example, if Frank Lampard earns £140k a week at Stamford Bridge, that will all be based around if the club has won a certain percentage of league games, cup games, points amassed, goals scored, position in table, CL qualification etc, etc. So it's not a basic salary - it's all the other increments that would make up £140k. Without that, the poor lamb would be seriously close to the poverty line.
  10. I remember sitting in the hotel on the day of the 2001 play off in Cardiff. Mark Lawrenson said in his article that the game was worth £30m to the winners. Our debt at the time? £29m. Go figure. Financially, the PL was the ruination of our club, one that flirted with financial meltdown 30 years ago. Deja vu my friend. deja vu.
  11. Stan Hollymore St. Nicholas Anelka Tree J Campbell Gordon Wanks (I get one every December 25th)
  12. Was also in December (2003) and reason I was confused was that it also finished two apiece
  13. my apologies - the 2-2 was in December 2001 same season we beat them 5-0 away. Record crowd later on
  14. think you might be wrong there Garp
  15. Gonzo, it was 5-1 at Chelsea mate I didn't miss home or away that season. We were still stuck in traffic when the Arsenal v Liverpool game FINISHED and it was the late kick off. Bloody Londoners late night shopping. Not sure whether Leicester followed, might have been Newcastle 4-3 and then Leicester with record crowd when we came back to draw 2-2 with nine men
  16. I think the irony is lost on someone like me. If I'm reading the thread title correctly, can I please profer Giovanni van Brankhorst or something? That absolutely sounds fuck all like Charlton Athletic. Ergo, it's the best answer so far surely?
  17. I am in. But then again I've been in for every game this season except Shrewsbury. But this is the one game that I wished I'd been able to attend - sister's here from London though #shitfanoftheyearcontender
  18. He's Keanu's boy. Known for his Speed
  19. Dong McAllister Adrian Sheath Japs Eye Stam Owen Coyle (cock)
  20. WTF is wrong with Plum Tomatoes? Now butter beans....
  21. Football clubs (and particularly managers) can get very prissy if backed into a corner by the media - that's why you see so many rows with journos from the daily's - cos they don't work directly for the clubs. Last weeks with AVB and Neil Ashton was great/car crash telly. As for the BN I can only say that over at Shrewsbury they ask the same mundane/inane questions every week and always tend to avoid the "do you think you're going to get binned off any time soon" approach. One or two over there have had the dreaded crook around their necks. You can sense Dan from the club having to toe the party line in his post match, where I'd wager a little bit of him would like to go for the circus act (the juggler). On a more positive note, thanks very much for letting us have Tom (Chris) Eaves back as he's already off and running. We'll take Becks 'n all if he's going?
  22. ^ That still comes from the legendary episode where the bloke on the right answered turkey to every question. I remember one of them being name something you'd take to the beach. I always wondered what his family were like with him afterwards
  23. Only prediction from me is a 13,000 crowd
  24. I always fancied nobbing Kelly Brook from behind with the curtains open in one of the DeVere rooms. As soon as I was told it was an extra 35 dabs to have the curtains opened while there was a game on, I rang Kel and told her to forget it. I'm not made of money.
