Transfer Gossip
Argyle fans saying slow as fuck but a very good one on one defender. He was part of a back three last season that shipped 80 goals which is absolutely shocking but was let down by a few inexperienced centre backs next to him apparently. The way I look at is he's probably 4th choice & his resume looks pretty good for a supposed backup CB whilst also being at a good age where he should be coming into his best years. He's labelled 5'10 which is on the shorter side for a CB but he looks to have a few goals in him from set pieces which is a much needed dimension in which we need to add this upcoming season. Like others in our squad he's had three promotions with Blackpool, Bury & Plymouth for L2 so should has some winning mentality. On top of it I cant see how he could be worse than Delaney in our system & style of play

Be buzzing with that, can see why IE rates him. Should fit into the way we want to play like a dream, no surprise he's one of our top targets we want to get done early as he won't be lacking interest

You'll have your Ipswich & Sunderland's investing heavily in their rebuild but like others have said with a solid spine from last season with a few sprinkles added into it then you never know what could happen. I'm not expecting to be right up there but did anybody expect Sheff Utd to go from L1 to the prem back to back with virtually the same L1 players? Lincoln from NL to on the verge of CH. The main thing is with all them 1-0's we formed a winning mentality which can carry over well into the higher leagues so I can see why IE committed to offering out them 2 year deals to Izzy & Geth aswell as keeping around a few of the players we expected to be released. Not a clue who we'll bring in but expecting some quality shrewd business with the amount of frees out there this summer & hopefully we can get a few exciting PL loans like how Blackpool got with Simms & Ballard. Can't be having the likes of Comley, Greenidge, Crawford eating up valuable places & wages neither.

Transfer Gossip
Great grafter is Lloyd Christmas & he seems to have a good connection with Jones developing on that right side. His agility allows him to turn full backs inside out & have them on toast so hopefully he continues with the extra bit of quality in the final third like he showed at the last push of the season. He's also 28 now & has played very little football in his career so far for whatever reason but he should be at his physical peak now & have a lot to give to our squad. Dapo will be a quality pick up, the sort of signings we should be making. His ability to carry the ball under pressure & get us up the pitch will be priceless. He obviously has a lot of raw ability & has a great attitude to match in terms of work rate. Evatt did say he wants his wingers to get in at the back post & get goals so hopefully they can kick on. If we get Dapo/John & add them to the likes of Rico/Politic/Thomason theirs a good few players who we can mould into assets for the club which is much better than overpaying journeymen like we used to.

Retained List
Aslong as Tutte is content in being a backup squad player filling in when needed then no problems he didn't put a foot wrong really. Delaney on the other hand is suspect & was at fault for a good amount of goals after the new year, so thank god Baps came in. Delaney did have a decent bit of form in our mini run before Xmas & scored that winner against Cheltenham so credit where it's due but I wouldn't have kept him on although I hope he proves us wrong. The rest are all expected & no real complaints, Isgrove stepped up when it mattered during the final push & his pressure from the front will be vital in the harder games next season. Arthur & Miller thanks for the Mansfield/Southend/Barrow winners, should have no problem getting a L2 team hopefully they can start games for whoever & smash it.

Surely we'll be looking at Andy Cannon (25) & Jordy Hiwula (26) who have just been released from Pompey to look for a move back up Manchester way where they're both from. If we're looking for an upgrade on Comley & Tutte then Cannon fits the bill he has played every single one of his 163 games at League 1 level. Hiwula was a highly efficient L1 winger for a good a few seasons getting double digits in three consecutive seasons in all comps for Bradford/Fleetwood/Coventry & his move to Pompey just hasn't worked out but he could be a good pick up.

Play offs
Now we're cemented & up revelling in our promotion... I'm going to take great fucking pleasure in sitting back & watching other teams bottle the play offs 😆. I've stuck some money on a Barnsley/Oxford/Morecambe treble & a Bournemouth/Sunderland/Newport treble. Don't really give a shit who actually does go up though along as it isn't trannymare, Hill getting the chop is a disappointment though it would have been funny watching him get banged 5-1 in the first leg & dropping some bollocks like "We've not been defeated, this is a learning curve... we may have lost the match but we haven't lost the war. We don't look at the scoreboard... we're on a journey" with his fucking hot vimto in his hand 🤡

I'm confident we'll get John back, he's known Jones/MJ/Isgrove for years in the Welsh setup along with Evatt/Doyler from their Chesterfield days so he probably settled in easy with so many familiar faces. If a champ club comes in for him then fair enough but he needs to be playing week in, week out & that's what he will do here. Dapo on the other hand, hard to see West Ham keeping him on at his age but he may get offers from somewhere closer to his fam & friends like Luton/Charlton. Definitely would love him back on a permanent if things work out though as we need to be securing some talent of a certain age who have a good sell on value if they grow with the club e.g Santos/Thomason

Transfer Gossip
Watched a Doyle interview last week, in his mind he thinks he'll get more goals in L1 due to the league being more open with less teams sitting back so he'll have more space to exploit. At his age it might be harder for him now but his L1 goals record is impressive. He has 46 goals in 100 L1 apps compared to 58 in 132 L2 apps. He should still get goals at 33 in a higher league but we deffo should aim to bring in maybe two more strikers to push him & who are of a different mould to him.

Hopefully some teams come in for Crawford & Comley we can improve massively on them. Delaney great winner at Chelt but his as stiff as a robot & can't play out well enough to be an IE type defender so get rid imo. Tutte played good but the manager froze him out so he won't get renewed. We love Miller & Arthur they contributed hugely with some late winners besides having a lot of ability but can see us letting them go... Miller was injured for majority of the season whilst Evatt doesn't trust AG starting after the Colchester game. Brocky will get another year I pressume for his versatility & he can still improve. Liam Gordon another loan, try for a lower L2 team. Faal isn't getting s renewal with 0 goals in 20 games for a Barnet side who have completely gone to pot since big Rico left them. Hickman & Mascoll already out the picture. Renew Baps & Gilks another year even if they're just backups they was vital this season. Hopefully we renew Isgrove, he turned up clutch in the final push & massively improved

Exeter City - Home
Exeter are a weird team, I thought they would be right up there they play some good football unlike most the teams in this league. They absolutely twatted Cambridge away 4-1 not so long ago & they gave old onion a good seeing to 5-0 so they can turn up just like that. Looked llike they had a pretty tough match last night though so you would think that should take something out of them for Saturday but noticed they left thier two best players in Jay & Bowman on the bench to bring on later in the match so they'll be sharp & dangerous come Saturday. They also have a 6'3 lump of a striker who will no doubt cause us havoc from the league's trademark long throws when we're on the ropes at the end if we're trying to defend something. Its right there for us though, at home, good playing surface, should all be relatively fully fresh, raring to go, we need to win this match... I can't bare the thought of needing a win away on a dodgy pitch against a team with fuck all to play for. Crawley will play out of thier skins to ruin our season & will have all the freedom in the world to do so.

Newport (A)
I'm sick of these fat cunt referees in this league who can't be arsed jogging to keep up with a game with flow & tempo in it so chooses to stop, start, stop, start every single 5 seconds for things like Gilks or Baptiste taking a quick free kick in our own box. We looked well up for it in the first 45 but how shocking is our composure in front of goal. Our bigger players from the back should be chipping in but what about the players who play in behind Doyle? Every single one of them the ghost delfouneso, Dapo, Isgrove, Maddison, Elbouzedi no matter who's on the pitch they're getting no goals/no assists they really need to step up... Theyre the creative trio they may press & link up okay but the numbers are tragic. As for set pieces its like we're playing with one hand tied behind our back, all these teams we're playing don't even want the ball in play meaning we're going to struggle for rhythm & patterns of play as most of our goals have to be perfect from open play which is hard when you have these fucking god awful rugby pitches & obese refs/linesmen who are to whistle happy. Still got hope for the auto's but if we have to go through the play offs I can see a team doing a job on us at our ground shithousing a 0-0 with the bus out then punishing us with a set piece from a long throw at one of thier shit grounds to win the tie.

Maverick
I just feel like we can't afford to keep hanging our hats on the hope he'll click at this pivotal point of the season. Its too late to just keep throwing him in & see what happens especially when all the other wingers are more accustomed to the philosophy of keeping the ball & working tirelessly. It's a big risk letting him loose out there when we're at the part of the season where games are running out rapidly & we can't afford to let points slip because a player has a reputation along with a highlight reel. He was great for Peterborough & it was exciting at the time but he looks absolutely shot to pieces turning up here like constantly fighting to simply control the ball & struggling to make a simple pass. I hope he turns it around but it's hard to see it atm, all the team looks like it's developed relationships & chemistry all over the pitch especially two of the other new boys who joined the same day as Madders in MJ & Dapo. You also have Dennis to come back next season who will be hungry, dedicated & itching to get back on one of them wings hopefully either side of Dapo.

Bolton v forest green
3-4-1-2 the wing backs are genuinely useless for us forcing Delf & Doyle to drift wide leaving nobody in the centre. John Rooney was the main guy at Barrow in the hole behind the front two yet Sarce has been anonymous three games straight. The lack of pace & width is the main concern as without that it's ridiculously slow & lethargic no ideas. It doesn't matter who plays back three as they're all slow & can't control a simple ball whilst misplacing square three yard passes. I'll keep saying it if three at the back I want Jones on the right of the three he's safe but useless going forward yet keeping a wing back in Hickman out who put more crosses in 60 mins than Jones & Gordon have in three matches. 3-4-3. Time to see Mascoll too Gordon doesn't even believe that hes capable of league 2 level. Sarce needs to drop deeper & be the steel opposed to the guile he's probably better breaking things up than being on the ball. White or Tutte alongside him as Comley hasn't provided anything yet he's looked lightweight for a supposed holding midfielde. The attack we need a solution to stop Doyle drifting wide maybe have Delf operate the Auba role, Doyle Centre which would mean Crawford/Miller operating right wing it's a major loss losing our only direct winger Politic.

EFL Trophy 2020/2021
With the defense I'd personally like to see how Jones would do on the right of the back three where Brock played tonight with Hickman as the direct attacking wing back based on the last two games, you don't need every centre back to be 6'4. Jones isn't as ambitious getting down the byline, looks to turn back to keep possession with safety in mind but is very tidy & composed with being a former centre midfielder which would suit him bringing the ball out of the three he would also find himself in familiar positions as he would playing as a right back when the defense splits. For our wingbacks they are so important we need them to be our main service providers and Hickman is very dangerous due to the pace & crossing variation in his game. Gordon will start due to fitness but Mascoll may be better suited given the chance we'll have to see.

Bradford match
Thats exactly how most teams in this league will play at our ground, sit back, be well organized & hit us in behind because our back three look like they run through quick sand. The wing backs didn't get one cross in, Jones looked comfy but they turned back for the easy option they're meant to be the creators in this tactic now whether that was down to being scared to commit due to having to cover the lack of pace in the back 3 thats where Comley should drop back to turn into a back 4 in transition. White & Crellin were two who weren't the most exciting signings put they impressed the most for me. Delfouneso too, the only real pace and tried getting in behind. Sarce was iffy with his passing but very combatant all action & gets himself in the box to support. Doyle ain't scoring if played like this though, he was dropping deep attempting through balls trying to dribble down the wing... He made his name from off the ball movement not on the ball the less involved he is the better. All in all I think we can see we're trying to be a possession based team it's just they lacked the basics first. Also lacking bravery on the ball hopefully can start playing in between the lines & create dangerous situations for our better players to punish teams. Still think we need a striker of a target man sort though, somebody who can come on to bring others into play thats how Quigley was so influential to Evatts style at Barrow. This Morecambe lad seems a waste of a spot, would rather see Amoateng have had his role & see a target man come in. Also worrying that if Evatt changes formation we have no wingers at all now Politic is out, so our wing backs need improve going forward.

Was on trial which got cut short along with that Ben Stephens where as Baptiste/ Hickman/Greenidge/Amoateng stayed till the duration. Probably didn't fancy him then gave him a call to fall back on him when we realised we're well short for the bench & cover considering our young pro's are nowhere near the level required atm. Not exciting in the slightest but we deffo needed another CM. We can expect some scouse shithousery & a 5 yard backwards sideways pass but at the end of the day I'd rather have this guy doing the same thing as Spearing & Lowe on 75% less wages.

Crewe Friendly
There's some really great exciting teams who play it especially in europe e.g Atalanta. On the lower scale Plymouth & Ryan Lowe got out of this league with it. All down to the players to know thier roles & but most of all you need the quality
-
Crewe Friendly
Always going to be difficult throwing a bunch of players together all at once & expecting to piss a league because we've a few proven top tier league 2 players. Teams who have had a structure in place for a while with decent chemistry are ahead of time of us. For years we've been throwing has be's together just to get by. Evatt had a shit start last season at Barrow lost around 5 matches out of 8 at the start but once the players started to click they blitzed the league. The concern is we are lacking massively in terms of the bench going into the season, just a bunch of young defenders who are there to make numbers

Friendlies
Be shocked if we pass on him, he's most likely signed already. He's already played for our U23's a good few times last season so Phoenix most likely recommended him to Evatt. Even though he was on Liverpool's books he did very well at Bury's academy who's manager then is our newly appointed Academy manager? Perfect secret weapon off the bench as no teams probably know who he is. Fits into the moneyball philosophy. Also will be at the Evatt fitness levels whom any other striker coming from another setup may be having to play catch up.

When he does come back I just hope for Dennis himself he doesn't have the sparky type luck.

Transfer Gossip
Good moves by Evatt & Tobias. Make sure your two top targets are first through the door to create a big portion of that spine whom are ready made to get out of this league. Clear to see that we're trying to find players who have had very good youth careers who are still relatively young e.g Taft(Leicester), Comley(QPR), Jones(Everton), Greenidge(Arsenal,WBA) meaning they've very much most likely been coached to play "the right way" hopefully this is the platform for them to really kick on under the right manager. The likes of White, Gordon & Santos who have all been playing non league recently are all young, hungry whom would have really caught Evatt's eye during his vanarama journey. They're also a farcry to the shit unambitious journeyman fucks like Buckley, Donaldson, Dyer, O'Grady ect. The only concern is the goalkeeper imagine this Billy Casper is being trusted on this England youth coaching of distribution & playing out from the back... maybe it's not as scary as it sounds as noted the last three teams who got out of this division all had keepers under the age of 24 playing mainly every match in their campaign including crewe with Jussi Jr. Hopefully Faal can have a good pre season, got all the attributes to be handful probably just needs some proper coaching unlike the shit Hill was doing.
