Back in the day when me and Andrew Flintoff met.

Had 2 nights on the piss with him years ago, just after he had an OP on his foot. He was designated driver one night, foot in pot and was pretty much steaming come the end of the night. I didn’t really have an idea of how famous he was until he started getting mobbed in the boozers.

Asked an ex-colleague from my woundcare days. He agrees with kent. Reckons that’s after a rebuild of his nose and his jaw is misaligned and his right cheek apparently shows signs of injury. Looks basically like the car has flipped and his face has smashed/scraped into the ground at speed. Miracle he’s back doing stuff

Yep. That’s what I was told.

Has it been said if he suffered any long term brain injuries in the crash?

Not read anything but some of the photos make him look ‘a bit simple’. Saying that, heard a few interviews with current set-up and they say its been amazing having him involved. Can only presume he’s actually coaching which would be tough with brain damage.

From a news report 2 days ago….

“it has already been suggested that the father of four wasn't wearing a safety helmet during the incident, a source has now told them that Freddie’s telling final words before the smash were “Do I need a helmet?”

He's thankfully looking a lot better here...

Actually feel quite relieved watching that, he does look and sound like his old self.

Could that have been filmed a few days ago? Looks like Trent Bridge that but I thought they were in India now!

Yeah me too, I feared the worst after those photos emerged so I am now wondering the press just picked out (paid for) the worst possible pictures for their editorial pieces.

Same here. I suppose that wouldn't be a surprise, perhaps he'd very recently had some more surgery just before they were taken or something but anyway its good to see

Yeah suppose unless some failure in that department, I get paying for his rehabilitation time off etc 9m seems excessive but probably more to it I guess

Think it may be to do with the remains of his contract.

Still find it bizarre that he wasn't wearing a helmet.

there you have your answer

if theres a RA, it almost certainly says helmet to mitigate the risk

no helmet = failure to adequately supervise staff

and if theres no RA, id expect prosecutions to follow

Pah!

Fred Dibnah’s risk assessment was whether to take his butties up the chimney with him or not.

Soft as shite these days.

RA can also be used "against" the party.

Eg, was Flintoff refusing to wear it, or took it off?

Of course if he refused, then he shouldn't have been allowed to continue, but it is possible he took just drove anyway.

We just don't know exactly what happened.

Not heard of HSE taking any action.
