It'll be more than inroads- trust me on that one.

Maybe.

The new leader isn't popular, but if he stays clear of the investigation, as a chip off the old block, he could still retain many of the zealots.

How exactly that plays out in terms of seats, who knows.

They certainly picked the wrong person, but if the investigations yield nothing, then I dont think it will be a wipe-out.

Current polls suggest they could lose half their westminster seats (45), not a great positon, but a few more going back and they could still retain a decent presence.

Taking back control only works in England apparently.

They’re in meltdown aren’t they?

Never trust Nationalists, no matter what political hue.

The SNP are in disarray but independence is not just about the SNP.

Personally I’d rather they stayed part of the uk, but it’s not the choice of voters outside scotland.

Same here but Westminster treats them with contempt so I could not blame them for wanting independence.

They’d be stupid not to float the isssue as it’s their only carrot.

Hardly, in what way?

Not financial contempt, then.

Nor legislative, as they have widespread devolved powers.

But taken out of the EU despite two thirds of Scottish voters wishing to remain. It is those sorts of things that they would like to choose themselves and not what gets decided in London.

To be fair, it is easy to blame your ills on Westminster. The regions, NW included, do the same to some degree so if we were Scotchers we would be similar, at least a large section of society would be I suspect.

The issue is the way Westminster is perceived by many and recent Tory behaviour has exacerbated that enormously.

It doesn't help that the likes of the Sun, Mail, Express, etc are stoking division and resentment of anything and anyone to divert from the government's failings.  That rhetoric has took hold in the cabinet too now and we should be better than that.

Three word slogans innit

It’s about their own self governance. Surely as a brexiteer you get that ?

Its also why Labours paper on more power to regional governments is so welcome, giving power to those who directly need it.

I don't agree with the SNP, doesn't mean I don't understand the calls for independance.

As I say just spent a couple of days in Wigan, fucking hell it's like a different world to the one I live in and the money that washes around London. Northernwesterners shouldn't be doffing caps but actually getting furious that parts of the country have been totally left wanting.

It’s easy, especially these days, to blame anyone and everyone, thus avoiding responsibility. A thoroughly modern illness.

Yes, the Boomer generation are notorious for taking responsibility for their own actions

It should be though. As the majority of the UK population is in England and makes far and away the largest contribution to propping up lame duck tourism and whisky distilling lame ducks, the English should get a say.

Might be a landslide vote for Scottish independence once the millstone around our neck for over 300 years has been highlighted?
