Yeah I just seen that, confirmed by their manager now. It's all down to us who cares about them, but regardless, he's apparently their top goal contributor (goals & assists) and will be a massive blow for them.

They really had a go at Pompey on Saturday and their fans say they can't fault the players' effort but Pompey played with a back 5 which restricted Stanley's shots (18) to long distance for the most part - and that's the root of their problem - they can't score. Only 36 goals in 43 games this season and losing Leigh won't make it any easier. That said they've got Nolan and Lowe desperate to step up and prove themselves so we need to be careful and keep the back door firmly shut.

Our quality should see us through though.

Thought so...Coleman saying if they come to defend they'll get battered so they're going to have a go at us.

They don't really have a choice TBF.

Yeah, they make me cringe too especially the one's with Ian Evatt.

Leading question/statement: 'Well, gaffer WE played very well there etc etc...' As if the interviewer is a member of the team.

They are part of the team, it's in-house stuff they're not exactly going to be interrogating them.

Local paper doesn't seem to get as much access anymore, the club appears to want to handle its own media where it can these days. Fair enough.

I do

I totally get the media training stuff BUT if you look back at the player interviews over the season they're like robots and the number of times they start the response with the word "definitely" grinds my gears. There must be dozens of ways of agreeing with the statement - and the script is there for guidance only, but they never wander from it or express an alternative view e.g. "yes we DEFINITELY defended well, but if our passing had been crisper we wouldn't have turned the ball over so often, so wouldn't have had to defend so much in the first place - which gives us something to work on for the next game"

Anyhoo, it's match day so I don't want to think about anything other than 3 points tonight.

I tend not to watch player/manager interviews pre or post match tbh, as I'm not really that interested. Its not going to affect whether I go or not or have any bearing over my support.

But, contact the media team and ask why the line of questions and answers is the way it is, they're pretty open about stuff these days so might actually respond.
