Currently on our second passat, and this one has had a number of issues. I had a C5 Estate on lease 2009 when they were virtually gifting them away... good car, ran it for the 3 years, aircon went tech (fixed under warranty) but apart from that no problems but I wouldn't want to own one more than 5 or so years old... labour might cost too much for repairs, as I said the French have their own peculiar way of over-complicating things. I used to really rate VW (wife had a couple of Siriocos back in the day) but they seem to have taken their eye off the ball, another car with too many sensors. Quote

Site Supporter only1swanny Posted December 8, 2024 Site Supporter Posted December 8, 2024 Current line ups.. Volvo xc60 2.4 AWD 2016 80k miles Comfy, 50mpg, but expensive insurance (65 a month) VW Tiguan 2.0 AWD 2017 60k miles comfy, smaller, but lacks any wow factor, very plain (50 a month insurance) Renault Kadjar 2WD 1.5 2018 40k miles, quite quirky, smaller, but french and underpowered? 75mpg on fuel though! I'd just have a transit van but wife said no! (40 a month insurance) strangely my 2009 Volvo xc60 is only 40 quid a month insurance, but it's costing me about 240 quid a month to go to wigan and back as it only does 30mpg, which was Ok when I worked 2 miles down the road! Trying to get hold of a passat that hasn't been to the moon is pretty much impossible! I've always bought from the same garage, went to try a Kadjar today, started it up and the injector and polution filter came up as engine management warnings straight away.. no ta! Quote

"If you want a high-riding family car that offers good value, has a sense of style and puts passenger comfort above fun, the Kadjar is a decent proposition." Pros Plenty of space for passengers and luggage excellent cabin layout Cons Restricted rear visibility not easy to manoeuvre notchy manual gearbox "Our 130hp 1.2 petrol test model averaged 41.5mpg in our hands, some way off the claimed 50.4mpg. It was similar story with the 1.6 petrol model, which achieved 39.8mpg in our testing (official claim: 45.6mpg). The 1.6-litre diesel proved more economical, averaging 52.3mpg, although this is still short of the manufacturer's claimed figure (57.6mpg). The 1.5-litre 110hp diesel is the most economical in the range, according to the official figures, averaging up to 74.3mpg and with CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km." Quote

To be honest, the car itself is less of a hassle than the fckin insurance Fucking loved my Swift, more poke and gadgets than a corsa/fiesta/polo for the price, cheaper to insure as well. At the time it came with a 1.4l engine rather than the 1l you got in the competition. Quote

Find loads that have done over 100k miles, but no way am I paying over 10k for a car with over 100000 miles. Quote

They have a 1.6 mini cooper, with a Pug engine in it.. The Kadjar is pretty much a beefed up Quashqui, and nissans are pretty reliable. Meanwhile the c4 picasso uses the same 1.6 engine as Ford, Pug and Volvo, and has ongoing issues with injectors failing costing a small fortune to be fixed (they need coding in). Quote
Ani Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 (edited) I have Toyota CHR, which is fine but it does not have a rear wind screen wiper which bugs the shit out of me. As much because my missus moans about a lot but it is weird omission . They say it has improved the aero dynamics and is designed so rain flows away. Not convinced. Dimron Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Never had this one before Why can't we renew your insurance It’s been great having you with us this past year. Right now though, our underwriting rules mean that there are some drivers we simply can’t continue to cover, no matter how much we’d like to. It can be for lots of reasons, from the type of car they drive to where they live. Just know that it’s nothing personal and it’s not forever. We’re working hard so that we can expand our cover in future. Ageist bastards... Aviva just came in £100 cheaper anyway Quote
