Manly car insurance chat

Wanderersways brethren - can you help?

I've just put a crack in the front driver side panel of my car. Basically misjudged the entrance to my garage and scraped a two inch hole in it.

On reversing back out to resolve it the wing mirror drivers side has clipped the other side of the garage.

Basically a massive fuck up on my part.

Car is an i30n performance so parts aren't cheap.

Don't think I've any choice but to go through insurance?

But would this class as one claim or two? And if I've got 15 years no claims and protected no claims discount - has anybody got any idea how much I'm likely to lose of that discount?

PS - I've tried rubbing it with a balloon etc........

Thanks in advance! 👍

Starmer's Britain 😉

Brexit Britain.

Posted this before- insurance companies now don't need to follow EU over certain financial rules.

Comments at the time suggested we could save around £50 per year.

Joy! :)

Offer has come in, 3700 or the car and 2700 back. Baring in mind it won't actually cost me anything to get the car back on the road seems a no brainer, might be without it for a week or two whilst they sort the paper work out...

OK - I'll give you the £50 and take the other £50 as Kier's so we can meet half way! 😁

My insurance has dropped over £500 notes since I got the van.

If that's down to SKS, I'll give him a reacharound!

Unfortunately though it would be a poor do in comparison: seems he may have had one or two Swift ones recently. 😕

Some owd dear who shouldn’t be driving crashed into the back of my car with me and my son in on Sunday. She got ‘confused’. Bet her fucking insurance was around £4 a year. I don’t have time to be fucking about with cars 😩

If you're going to crash into anybody - crash into a nurse. They will probably be compassionate about it and can also administer aid! 😁👍

Hope you're alright!

Reckon you'd still be a bit miffed if an old biddy ran into that speed machine you have/had. 😉

Oh dear.

Did wonder if you still had it, but only because petrol costs went through the roof.

Daft thing is, now those good old Saudis have decided to pump more oil, the price is lower.

Wouldn't go back to rotten critters though. 😀

But how’s your whiplash and that of the other 7 people who were in the car with you?

Your van is an EV isn't it?

A couple of years ago, the insurance companies were absolutely rinsing people with EVs, to the point of taking the piss. Mrs Sweep has an electric mini, her insurance is only £240 a year, fully comp, which is really good, considering I'm paying nearly £600 per year on my dirty diesel

Yes, and yes!

Tried to insure it the day before collecting, and was really struggling to get cover.

More than one explained that the vehicle wasn't even on their system yet, so couldn't offer cover. Others explained the high cost was because the batteries are expensive, which is sort of understandable, but the rest of it is worth more! 😀

Cheapest was a grand.

I think their initial fears have been allayed now, and it's actually cheaper than my diesel one was around 4 years ago.

I’m fine. 3 year old is being a knob and fleecing the old biddy blind.

Ins paid her out

😡😡😡 Cunts

had her and her sons Address

OVS

didnt end well for bother  of there Cars

This story reinforces the need for driverless cars... I am approaching the slobbering, involuntary shitting stage of life and will need to maintain my mobility without endangering others

Finally getting a new car (hopefully this Friday). Me and Mrs have decided we will just share both cars then. So removing the “your car” “my car” monikers. However, wondering what the best option is for insurance purposes. Are there fully comp joint policies out there worth looking at? Or still better to have separate policies?

Be cheaper to have a multi-car type arrangement with a single insurer I would think.

Not really helpful but you need to shop round for best deal. On multi car policies you still (I think) have a main driver for each car and add others who can drive. We are with Admiral with 4 cars on but weird things happen with premium so adding one of kids onto our cars pushing premium up ...usually... but last time it decreased for some reason.

But as different companies price risk differently you might get a better price by doing separate policies. I could get my car cheaper on a stand alone policy, but the joint policy does not drop enough to make it worthwhile.

It can get far too complicated, my missus sorts ours as I can not be arsed. Last time she  spent ages to save a few quid with Admiral. She then agreed to pay by instalments which was about £200 more, so we had to change that.

They're cheeky fuckers. Got my Auto-renewal quote yesterday. Double what it was last year! Phoned them up to tell them to get fucked, and ended up getting a new quote - 10% less than I'm paying now. So they've gone from doubling it, to knocking 10% off, based on a 3 minute phone call. No details changed or anything. Can only assume they were hoping I'd either not notice, or couldn't be arsed questioning it. Cunts.

Edit: Actually, just had another look. New price is 20% less!!

Sister in law just got a fine for non-payment whilst heading south-north on the Dartford tunnel.

Only one issue- at the time, their car was parked on her mum's, just down the road from you. 🤪:)

Crackers.

Shite that.

She has seen the picture that was taken, and it's quite poor, with only part of the number plate relatively clear.

Daft thing is, that the car on the image is a different colour, make and model to theirs!

Maybe the system should actually cross reference the plate they think they're seeing with the actual car it's on.

I am giving up driving after the Blackpool game, I have to drive as my daughter is away, selling wife's car and she is having mine, driving with void insurance isn't big or clever
