Bit harsh- good awareness of a teammate perhaps in a better position? Plenty may have taken a shot, especially when short of goals. We got the goal and the win.

Far from spectacular but dealt with all (the little) Shrewsbury offered and found a way to win. Exactly the kind of performance we missed out in this type of game last season. New lads settling i

Got to be a win and 3 more points. These have only scored 7 goals in 15 matches.

They are one of lowest scorers in efl - need to be winning this

In. Hope it’s better than last year!

Different team. Street and Saydee have moved on so the only one of their scorers that day still at Shrewsbury is Dunkley - and he got sent off against Wigan so may be serving a ban.

They've had a bit of an overhaul and bought a few decent kids as well as some old pros like Mal Benning from Vale and Carl Winchester from S'land. Ryan Bowman partners Udoh up top.

The better teams have put them to the sword apart from Derby who dominated them but lost to a Hourihane OG.

We really should have too much for them - we also have a different team and hopefully one that doesn't defend as badly as we did at their place last season - it was embarrassing...

Our first goal was fantastic, sublime pass from Lee.

Nice finish from Charles but his penalty was a bit fortunate.

We just defended really badly that day. Not sure what Trafford was doing for their winner but he should have been punching the guys head off instead of gazing on in admiration. Think we are handling set pieces and crosses  better this season though.

We handle everything better when santos plays

He missed that game

Fwiw, we could/should have been 4 1 up despite a very slow start

Not sure about that.  We conceded 36 last season, we've already conceded half that number and the keeper is making plenty saves every game, last year Trafford was redundant in many games.

Just off top of my head poor defending at set pieces contributed directly to goals conceded v Derby, Wigan, Carlisle, Stevenage and Wycombe already.  I can't remember that many all last season but happy to be corrected.

First visit to the New Meadow for me and first away day of the season #shitfan

Looking forward to it. Got to put these to the sword really to keep momentum up.

Have we really conceded many from set pieces and crosses this season? I don't think we have because we've started packing the 6 yard box with players - which gives me kittens as we leave the edge of the box undefended. Fleetwood's was direct from a corner as was Wigan's opener but that aside I'm struggling to remember any others. Wycombe's second was second phase after a corner (shot came in, blocked and then close range shot),

Derby's was a pen, Stevenage was a breakaway and a pen (albeit won after a free kick and not direct) and Carlisle's were a pen (Toal hand ball) a deflected shot from distance and then a breakaway when Baxter went walkabout.

There must be some because my memory is like a sieve but I just have a feeling that's one aspect of the game we've tightened up on.

Win please

My instinct is that we look less secure from set pieces this season, not making a big thing of it but since you mentioned it....Derby's pen was from a corner, they "scored" but ref disallowed it to give the pen; Carlisle's 1st goal was admittedly 2nd phase but they return the ball virtually unchallenged (11 back) and Toal handballs it; 2nd goal from a corner we cleared to their unmarked man on the corner of the box (admittedly a jammy deflection); Stevenage 2nd goal was from defending a set piece, Jerome barged into their man to concede a pen; Wycombe's 2nd definitely a set piece goal, as you say left unmarked on the edge to pick his spot, good save but they put rebound in.  Not sure how it compares with last season but its a stretch to say we've improved.

Pay on the day confirmed

CASH only

I’m wondering whether we might see Thomason rested for this one.

A trio of Sheehan, Maghoma and Morley may help us keep on the front foot, break the lines, contribute to goals and keep us solid enough against Shrewsbury.

I think Morley’s in good form at the moment and Maghoma is a real threat giving us something different.

A fresh Thomason will be a good addition to the team against Blackpool - that kind of steeliness that was missing against Wigan.

With CMG and Dempsey to add to the mix we could have some fantastic options pre-Christmas.

Missing again are we

cruising?

Suspect we are going to play the Wycombe defensive combo here with Jones at RWB and Cogley LWB with Forrester’s extra height in the middle.

I agree, we look worse defending set pieces this season when including all the unchallenged second phase stuff. But on the positive side we look better on attacking set pieces.

I haven't got a clue what Shrewsbury are like this season but based on last season hoping our attacking set pieces can give us a goal or two to outscore Shrewsbury's aerial threat.
