Oh good....Mrs Sunak is speaking at the conference, fuck knows why. I guess she's just telling everybody what a good egg he is

So far....

Mrs. Sunak loves Mr. Sunak, but not as much as Mr. Sunak loves this country.

Did he really just say we will spend some of the money saved on upgrading the A2/A3/A5? FFS. Thats more investment down south. Every penny should be spent Birmingham North.

Shame it did not happen before they started the southern section, and let us see where that money is now spent, A2/3/5 upgrades, its a joke.  Lets have an election fast, and allow us all to vote on their plans... we all know they are toast.

To be fair, the A2 is a fucking disgrace, and does need to be improved in order to help the freight that comes cross channel.

I do agree though, if they're cancelling the northern link of HS2, then that money should be spent to improve the infrastructure north of Brum

It'll be interesting to see which way Starmer swings on this one, as it's all he's going to be asked about for the next few days

My point is any money saved should be spent in the area where the money was originally planned to be spent. It is a bad look when the North HS2 is scrapped and the 3 road upgrades planned are all in the South.

I don't disagree with you at all, but it's pretty clear they're not that arsed about "the North" as things stand (apart from the Richmond area that he represents)

Oh I don't know he also mentioned improvements to the Shipley by pass a Northern town, just checked who the MP is for Shipley and yes, you guessed it Tory.

The A5 runs from London to Holyhead. I suppose it depends whereabouts the upgrades are.

That said, if the road network is improved all over then that's no bad thing, as cars aren't going to disappear.

A2 would presumably be to help freight from Dover.

As with any such things, proof of the pudding etc.

Not sure what your point is.

Government taking control and doing what they want was a key point in 2016 was it not?

They want to invest in the south more with no interference

HS2 had nothing to do with EU or Brexit, however the Tory government will partly be judged on this decision and I’m all for government accountability.
