Birmingham are below us in the "massive tiers" in my opinion. Think folk focus too much on crowd sizes, when it is certainly a factor but there is a lot to consider. For me, it's about, Trop

If we were in Derby’s position we would undoubtedly sell that out.

No chance

It's pretty close for me mate.

They can pull far bigger followings for games which really matter.

They are a big city club who have gone through the shit for far too long.

I like Birmingham

Nay

I've done the derbies at both grounds with Villa, the intensity of hatred is brilliant to see. It's a real experience being in a 21 black cab convey of zulus being dropped off at the back of the Holte End

What about Barnsley 💣

I think we edge it via trophies, Europe and more years in the top flight

What have they got over us?

If its fan potential it's because they are from a city of over 1m

Even in the PL their followings didn't compare to Villa

My thoughts exactly mate.

Can't think a brilliant time in their history like you would say forest.

I've only ever known them in dissary with pretty shit crowds for a massive city. Villa is the city club really.

Can't even name many proper famous players bar Trevor Francis and Ted McMimn.

If Brum had any ambition, they wouldn't have sold the Bellingham brothers so young. Jude's only 20 and Jobe's just 18 now but has 6 Championship goals so far this season - including a double against Rotherham.

Yes. Fuck it. Why not. Crowds are piss poor considering they’re from a city. Must be way behind us on years in the top flight, too.

Seen them bring poor followings same time massive ones very inconsistent

but in a nutshell much bigger

Not directly answering the question but I think of it more like categories rather specifically bigger than a single club. I’d have Brum very much in the same category as us.

Similar for me.

What would a premier league look like with the 20 biggest clubs in the country look like then?

Boro over Norwich for me. There’s definitely someone bigger than Palace too but I’m not sure who. Possibly Pompey or Wolves?

Slight aside but in terms of similarity, my mates a Boro fan and when you compare us with them, which we’ve done many a time over a few pints, we’re incredibly similar in terms of size, time in the prem, foreign stars, European trips, local lad done good owner (theirs with deeper pockets than ours) even the same League Cup final!

Good topic this Gonzo - more suited to a Saturday in the pub rather than a day when I could do with getting plenty of work done though 🥴.

Jobe maybe as they sold him to another championship club, no idea on the fee though

but I think the issue they had with Jude was his ambition

£25m and Borrusia Dortmund

And look at how he's developed since

I'm not sure there's any conceivable scenario where Brum have a case for keeping him
