Stoke (H) before Preston wasn't it? They were celebrating winning the title and enjoying the fact that us beating them made it much more difficult for Port Vale. Amazing season as we didn't really begin to click until October I think and then were brilliant for the back half of the season (or that's how I remember it).

You’re correct. Stoke became Bolton fans for the night.

Last game I went to with my dad

My Stoke mate was there. It was their “Promotion Commotion” game iirc. Was it that game that one of their lot scaled a floodlight on the embankment?

No idea but I do recall the Bon homie shown that night between Bolton and Stoke didn’t last into the next season. It kicked off all over the car park behind the old Victoria Ground.

You are of course correct PW, it was indeed Stoke & not Port Vale.

It was a while ago to be fair.

Aye we were sat next to a load of Stokies in the Wing Stand. Absolutely leathered and hugging everyone

Edit: yep didn’t take long for normal service/hostilities to be resumed

December in that first season.

4-0 v Rochdale in the cup. McAteer debut goal

4-0 v Burnley. They missed a pen? Played them off the park and Walker & Brown linked up for a great final goal.

5-0 v Bradford. Sent the delusional tw*ts back over the pennines with their arses handed to em. David Lee dragging ex rag Mike Duxbury over by the neck.

We won 1-4 away at Fulham at the start of that lot too if I remember right.

Aye, thought Lee had a good one.

Iirc, away wins after going behind were a rare event then.

Bit of a stretch to remember but I don't recall any that season. We did come back to draw 2-2 at PNE after being 2-0 down until late in the game. Same at Chester and at WBA the season after in what's now the Championship. We were down to 10 men in that last one too.
