We'd all like him to score more, but it doesn't necessarily matter, if his presence means defenders concentrate on him and others score. Yes he misses chances, but we're in division three, and at the moment very inconsistent, with bigger issues at the back. Someone above said he's a one in three striker- well I'll take that. Perhaps other strikers could look to match him, and bag 20 a season. I commented on how well he's playing away, I've nothing against him I just stated facts in terms of the clear pattern of where he gets 90% of his goals, for whatever reason we don't get the best out of him at home. Not sure why that would be ignored. Re pens, he scores most but has missed a few too including his most recent one. If he's not on the pitch someone else like Collins, Sheehan, McAtee would deputise. Nobody signs, or picks, a striker because they score 80% of their pens and the occasional 1 from open play. I'm not sure he misses many chances TBH, he's clearly our best finisher, the issue seems to be getting him in the right positions and creating chances for him, if that happens I'd want him on the end of them more than anyone else.
November 22, 20241 yr As before, we want more goals from him at home, but if he does his bit, and others score, then all is well. Bigger issues are behind the strikers. Performances at home not good enough all round.

But there has to be an element of truth in the opinion that things aren’t all bad under Evatt. I had started to consider the opinion that all things were as black as you are seeing it if I’m honest. I was starting to wonder whether some of the key players; Santos, Charles, Sheehan etc were disillusioned under Evatt. Surely this goes beyond just the money? He could have ridden out and got as much if not more on a FT Surely someone like Sheehan isn’t signing an extension if he doesn’t enjoy playing under Evatt and has valued the progress he has made playing under him? Fair questions and assumptions aren’t they?

Fair questions and assumptions aren’t they? No, honestly I don’t think it does. So many different scenarios could play out. He could know IE is going. He could be being sold in Jan. He could simply have a pay rise and that’s motivated him. It could be that he’s happy under Evatt and likes getting spanked every few weeks. I don’t deny that. But to suggest it flys as all is well and the bedwetters know fuck all is surprising from a ‘show me the evidence’ regular poster.

Or it could be that he's happy working for Evatt and thinks there's more to come from this squad, as he said in his interview. I'm sure he knows a bit more about the situation than you or I do. Your brain is bent if you don't think he could have got a better deal somewhere else within the next 6 months. A League 1 player, playing out of his skin on the International stage?

Very unusual if you do that by extending your stay at a club you’re unhappy at playing under a manager you don’t like.

A League 1 player, playing out of his skin on the International stage? My point exactly. While the signing of a new deal is good news. It doesn’t tell us anything though. Ive no idea if anyone was after him or not or if it’s in plan for him to go and get a fee. I rate him and think he could improve a level above not being clattered. I just can’t see how it tells us anything.

I agree with you as we’ll never be rid of him. Exactly in regards to Jan. it tells us nothing. I extend my stay at work for pay rises. Not that far fetched.

Comes down to opinions I suppose, and how far down the line you are of Evatt being the devil and I know you are pretty far down that line 😂 Like you say we’ll leave it there, an amicable difference of opinion 👍 Enjoy tomorrow beating the Donkey Lashers 😊 Harvester breakfast for us, what’s your plans?

November 22, 20241 yr It tells me he loves having it on easy street in training, so why go elsewhere and be made to work harder

I'm stuck at home tomorrow... twisted my knee on some ice but listening to commentary. I want a reaction, I want passion, I want warfare. I want Motorhead and not Vaughn Williams. I want them to eat raw meat before the game and not Holland & Barrett I want Evatt to deliver I want 5 nil

PS... When do you want me to start as your pre match "Mr Motivator"? We need to show some good old Tonge Moor Bolton Clogging Grit and do em... Jimmy Armfield would love this match if we all did the business

It's not a black and white issue- things rarely are- but things clearly aren't all sweetness and light. And that's from Evatt's lips remember.

But to clarify and reiterate, I never said it was black and white and everything is sweetness and light, but that it wasn’t unreasonable to claim that Sheehan is happy at the club playing under Evatt. Of course there’s lots of alternative solutions like he’s greedy or just looking out for security. But IMO I think this is not only good news for BWFC and Sheehan, but there’s also credit to Evatt for whatever role he’s played in nurturing and securing Sheehan in the short/medium/long term.
