Didn't know he'd had surgery.

What is the injury exactly?

Said they didn’t really know until they got in there but it’s been the best case scenario and a bit of a tidy up

I've just had a read on the BN about it, but also seen comments from IE about the international lads.

Again, a strange thing to say- about Dion this time- when he's under scrutiny himself.

Whether or not it's valid, it is another example of washing his laundry in public in having a pop at a player. Especially his leading scorer.

What's he been saying about Dion mate? Everything is behind a paywall for me!

Evatt should have gone after the Oxford debacle.

This season has been one of the most frustrating I can recall.

All of the perceived upwards momentum seems to have been lost.

Forget all of the above. Just beat this shower of shit. No fucking time for 'em.

There's a quote doing the rounds on social media

"I think Dion, in particular, hasn't really hit the heights this season which we all know he is capable of, I think that is fair to say"

But I'm not sure if there's any additional context we aren't aware of because only that bit has been quoted

Dion Charles and Josh Sheehan won promotion in the Nations League with their respective countries, and Evatt challenged the duo to carry that momentum into their club football.

“That is what they have to do,” he continued. “They have to take the form they showed on international duty into the team.

“I think Dion, in particular, hasn’t really hit the heights this season which we all know he is capable of, I think that is fair to say.

“Josh is incredibly consistent, he is a really good player, and he has to continue on that vein of form which he has shown since his injury really - after the three or four months he took to get back to top speed and condition.

“It can only bode well for this club that those lads have gone away, had a good time and can bring back some confidence for Saturday.”

Bit of a throw away comment, and it’s easy to just call out everything he does at the moment, but daft all the same.

Dion’s surely sat there going “fuck off, I’m playing well for the 60 minutes one game and 30 minutes next that you play me, how do you want me to get any consistency?”

Spot on. Not arsed on comments but I’d fire that straight back if I was him

He's probably had more starts than any striker in 2024 but he's scored 1 goal in the entire year to date from open play at home.  It may be IE's fault for not playing to his strengths because he looks like a different player in some away games, but he does have a point.  He can look devastating playing on the break eg at Northampton, Stevenage, Crawley but in most home games when he starts he's too easily dispossessed and doesn't get a sniff.  His best game for ages here was coming on last 20 minutes v Posh.

Ironically just seen this. No idea what they’re defining as a big chance but I wouldn’t say that’s down to him “not hitting the heights” he’s just not very clinical. Probably a 1 in 3? Chance striker

BTW that doesn't mean he should have made the comment in public, agree with those saying keep such things in house.

IE also saying Sheehan is "incredibly consistent" but that's a bit generous isn't it?  Superb in some games, looks like a championship player, then we go to Stockport or another tough game and he's a peripheral player.

That's not a dig at Sheehan though because I don't think we have one "consistent" player do we?  All very up and down depending on opposition and whether we score the 1st goal.

He'd score more goals in a team that had less of the ball and played on the counter, a lower level Jamie Vardy if you like. He isn't suited to being in a side that plays 69 passes before deciding to involve him in the game

International football's difficult to judge the level of sometimes but Sheehan's shown that he's capable of operating effectively against better opponents than we generally face, especially in areas of the pitch and set up that suit him.

Iceland the other night probably a mix of Champ / L1 standard, Turkey at weekend a bit better than that, more Champ/Prem.

Another, like Charles, who needs our approach and personnel to work for him, which Evatt seems unable to see

Last season we scored 1st 16 times at home and won 14.  Exceptions were Charlton (3-3) and Carlisle (1-3).

Away scored 1st 13 times and won 9, drew 2 and lost 2 (Reading & Blackpool).

Conceded 1st 7 times at home and we only lost 2 which is decent.  Drew 4 and did win 1, helped by the Derby keeper getting sent off.

Conceded 1st 8 times away and only won 1 (Cambridge), drew 3 and lost 4.

This season's stats more straight forward - scored 1st 7 times and won them all, conceded 1st 6 times and lost 5 of them (drew v Shrew).

No need for Opta with Johnnyrotten around. Great work 👏

Playa Blanca, found a bar that says for other games just ask so will pop in later and ask .

It’s one of them where you’ll have to ask if they can put it on for you, because we all know it isn’t ever going to be a bar filler.

Barneys, Harp, Bikers - all have enough screens to accomodate a request.

Wax bar which is behind Harp and Bikers said they will put it on, they can show 4 games at a time, only a tiny bar but guy running it last night was great.

Evatt is unpopular at the moment, so those comments on Charles are understandably going to be scrutinised and criticised.

If a manager who isn’t under so much pressure says that, they pretty much pass by without any debate.

As @barrycowdrill said let’s see what  reaction it gets.

What he said is true - so you can’t criticise that part.

But because of our situation there’s a debate as to the timing, the reason he’s not scoring for us and whether he should have even said it in the first place.
