Transfers to move the needle?

IE says we have money to spend on 2 or 3 1st 11 players.

I don't know what move the needle means. But I wonder who we have in mind. Vic for one has to be moved out ....

Maybe he's recruiting for a brand new 4-4-2 system?

With a fast direct style of play with early defence splitting balls or shit pinger crosses from wingers on their right sides?

Could do with some decent wingbacks if we insist on playing this braindead system.

They'd have to be better than decent.  They'd need to be of Connor Bradley quality on both sides ... and that's not going to happen.

I doubt that'll stop Evatt from persisting with it though.

if only you had saved the club

you could be player manager as well

If only you had spoken out when when Garside was doing exactly this ten years ago....Uncle Eddie was it back then.

Auntie Sharon now......Yes they had the club at heart both of them. Paying 1 to 1.5m for players that we just do not need

75k posts you have no clue about players like Ethan Erhahon who would improve us straightaway and Joel Randall who is a decent player but we already possess .

No you come on here and put down people who do not agree with your way of thinking.

Ah yes Lincoln City. The hotbed of midfield development.

What's their valuation of him and do they want to sell him?

That's utter tosh.

Go back and have a look at how the take over was funded.

The Swiss came in later; a bit of a gamble with the own, personal cash.

Government (covid loan) was a brilliant bit of business, and we were the only football club to successfully apply for it. It helped keep us afloat when there was essentially no income.

I get your criticism of the playing side of things, albeit not entirely in agreement, but this is way off beam.

Ina business sense, I don't think we could have got better.

Getting the money from the Government was cracking bit of business, the Swiss again you cannot fault them with how they have backed the club.

Sharons and FV investment is diluting each passing year and making money like they have to Evatt not just on the playing staff but his backroom staff where he has had two in one post at times.

Glad i have no personal cash tied up in the club, i have seen the club ran like this in the past

We would get him for what we are paying for Randall......Sits in front of the defence and breaks attacks down, gets stuck in and can pick a pass.

Randall is decent, but he is not what we need

And they expect him to go this window......Seems Burnley, West brom and Norwich are sniffing now

So doubt we are even in the same shop

Eh?

So the first two, that you were critical of previously, are now good!

Whatever investments have been made into the playing and coaching staff, have been done in line with the investment from others.

They have always said that they won't (can't) put loads of dosh in. The realisation that more investment would be needed saw them get it.

Despite this, we're not in hoc to any particular individual, who has a huge hold over the club.

They've always said get to the championship, and then they would review, and see if someone with deeper pockets fancied taking the club forward, so be it.

The fan investment is just that- not a guaranteed loan as such, but an opportunity for fans to gamble a little with the chance of a good return.

If that investment ultimately doesn't yield what was hoped, then that's the rub.

Not critical in the way FV have brought investment to the club, or a lot of other things they have done

Proof they are doing something right with the amount of season tickets sold

Just think we are spending big,big money on signings we just do not need.

Unless we are selling Sheehan,Morley, Lolos and Gomes

I agree that Randall seems an odd one, given what we have already.

Ultimately though, that's what the manager seems to want, and FV seem to want to back him.

Others will go out, and again that's on IE.

Far from convinced about it all, but, if they're giving him their backing as manager, then he has to be allowed to manage as he sees fit. Otherwise it's all a bit meaningless.

The blunt reality is we rarely, if ever, know how much our signings cost

All the figures are rumoured figures that seem to become gospel, and even if close to the truth will probably include potential bonuses/be dependent on clauses met, etc.

No one has any proof Randall has signed for us, It could be Huddersfield, Lincoln or Wiggun.

It could be.

Seems to be more than just rumour though.

I belive that IE tried to sign Randall last year. That obv failed and he has since fallen out of favour at posh and I remember him having a strop a few months ago, not wanting to play?

If we sign him now, and it looks likely, it reaks of IE stubbornly getting his own way. This seems like more of the same style of player that we already possess. And not the strong, dominant ones that we need.

IE credibility has sunk in the opinion of many fans, so it's a stretch to get too excited about this one.

What about if the difference is that Randall picks out a white shirt 8 yards from goal more regularly than thomasson et al

For all its on the manager if we dont win, just how many times do we need to get somebody in a great position only to see em kick it at a defender or overhit it

Fwiw, id much prefer we were signing edward obbjob from lincoln who has been named in the pfa team of the year for the last 10 years

If randall is all we sign have as many meltdowns as you want (but im sure he wont be our only signing)

Still wont count for owt mind

If Randall is an improvement on Dempsey (who we've missed massively) then get him onboard.

We'll see how well he does alongside one other midfielder.

It isn't just one or two that aren't passing it well, which indicates something bigger than an individual losing form.

The fee will be interesting for Randall. Isn’t he out of contract in summer?

Isn't he the guy that got sent off for two yellows in 5 mins against us? Can imagine him and George having a booking battle all season lol.

I've heard that's it's a 750k up front payment with performance related add ons. But it'll be undisclosed so no fucker knows

He's gonna be cheaper now than he was in the summer so silver linings

No, he signed a 3-year contract after we failed to buy him in the summer.

No. He signed a new contract with them in the summer.

Yes. Good player and championship clubs interested. Discipline seems to be his issue.

Think that's fair enough. The spending has been fairly big for the last 12 months and hasn't really had the returns you'd expect, while we're still not making any money on player sales.

While I'm not overly concerned as everything seems stable enough, the problem being a Bolton fan is we have recent experience of gambling on poor players and the club finances spiralling out of control.
