Transfers to move the needle?

IE says we have money to spend on 2 or 3 1st 11 players.

I don't know what move the needle means. But I wonder who we have in mind. Vic for one has to be moved out ....

I know little about him but he sounds very like what we have.

I disagree, we have no ball carrying, goalscoring number 10s to choose from. This guys as close to Maghoma we can get at this level

Fair enough. I was thinking players who are not out and out attackers, but not midfield players.  If we play a number 10, behind a front 2 we are back to the over run midfield.

Read something were a Wycombe fan was asked where Morley played for them. The response was ‘proper’ midfielder. Meaning he ran up and down the pitch.

From what I’ve gathered Morley played exactly where he played for us on Saturday for the majority of the game.

“He’s our only deep lying midfielder” is a comment I read from a Wycombe fan. They had Scowen further forward

He'll cause some frothing at the mouth amongst those who fawn over socks down Poundland Jack Grealishes like McAtee

That’s where Morley played when he first signed for us and looked some player. Seem to remember IE taking him out of the first team as he said he needed to learn the defensive side to his game.

And, to be fair, Evatt was right about that

Football fans in seeing things differently shocker!

Let's be honest, Morley had a decent enough return to the team on Saturday, but didn't really rip many trees up. His goal, like both others in the game, was a poor one to concede.

That said, he did look leaner and sharper than his last games in a Bolton shirt and worked hard and it was a good start. He needs to bring that (and more) every week.

I thought Morley made two or three sublime passes none of which we capitalised on but maybe once he’s settled back in and players read him better that will change. Sadly I still see him going to Wycombe to pay for Randall or whoever else IE hopes to bring in. I still think Sheehan could be off too so we may need more than one in midfield.

no way both Sheehan and Morley leave this window.

That 'pivot' role is key to how we play. It'd leave only Matete who (arguably) can play there ... George can't.

Sorry if it's already been posted..

Peterborough Telegraph on Randall...

In the case of Randall it’s a bold move as he’s a proven performer at League One level. There are few, if any, number 10s at this level with his ability to sniff out space and link the attacks between midfield and forward players, but many won’t be mourning his departure, especially those who like their players to get stuck in and make the fact they are up for a fight more obvious.

An ideal Evatt player .

He was.

It didn't work though, and unfortunately spoiled him.

He seemed to be reluctant to fulfill his attacking abilities, in case he was caught out defensively.

Sheehan is no better defensively, and has received a number of yellow cards through poor defensive challenges.

Arguably didn't get the requirements applied to him.

Whatever the case, we now have him back, and if we're going to play him, then let him play his game.

I note the fans saying he played the same deep midfield position: at Wycombe he had 4 in front of him, providing a shield before the attack.

For us, he has 3 behind, two wing backs and little protection. A very different approach.

This is spot on

Sheehans cards are generally for cynical, tactical, fouls when teams are breaking on us through no fault of his

He could just let em loose at our centre backs, i suppose

Tomos on the other hand are cos hes a bit numb

Sheehan's tackling is a liability because he is physically and mentally not that type of player.

Tomo on the other hand is also a bit of a liability with his tackling because he over commits and maybe is a bit stupid with it.

the current way of playing does neither of them any favours.

As for Morley, the general consensus seems to be that he is leaner, fitter and ready to drop in and contribute. That view is shared by Evatt.

Can't help feel that getting rid now, and replacing him with a player with questionable defensive/work ethics and no knowledge of us seems a bit daft.

Moreover, we'd be doing Wycombe a huge favour, potentially at our expense.

Wait until the season has finished and review then.
