Reet. Where’s everyone off to?

Ive got Dom Rep for 10 days on 3rd Jan and a North American/Canadian Cruise in September courtesy of Traf Tours

Looking at some short breaks as well. Malaga definitely but maybe Scotchland Isles? Italy?

    Flying the Wanderers flag

  • Thanks, A. It's true, though and I am surprised/a little disappointed that we don't pick up more enquiries (never mind bookings) from WW members. If you're booking directly with Jet2, Easyje

you mean for a visa application? if so, you don't need to be buying, just have somewhere to live for 3 months (airbnb will do). We'll rent for a while until we find the dream house.

If you go more central France - Limousin or Correze - or even a bit further north from where we're heading - North Charente, Deux Sevres, Vienne etc - you get some crazy bargains.

A bit less so where we're looking, mainly because of the weather and proximity to the coast, but even there we'll get a comparable house for less than 2/3 what we'll sell our UK house for.

Think the in-laws live in Vienne- that Poitiers region? Cheap as fuck, but I was bored… plus snakes; both of which are venomous

Anyway, might start looking at Salou from Manchester rather than London as we’ve blown the play offs (🤞) @Traf is a few nights in Spain below your spec?

Nothing is below my spec 😉

When I was in my 30’s (20-odd years ago), my plan was to buy somewhere in the Royan area to retire at 50. Visited the place loads of time back then.

Sadly life changed and im still working but my next move will either be (a) Australia if I can get a visa or (b) in a wooden box.

10 years… be 55, running holiday camps either Spain or Portugal; still committed and never give up lad

Couple of months on the CDS and then highly likely to be Xmas in Morocco.

I'll be wearing my fez and praying to Ella (Fitzgerald).

Patriotically throwing all that cash at the EU and North African people traffickers.

I really wanted to like Morocco, sadly, I found it almost as bad as Tunisia. North Africa is well and truly off the menu for me these days

So much bigly patriotism 🇬🇧

Also, spending Christmas in a Muslim country? @bolty58is losing his edge.

he practically admitted to being a Socialist the other day (liking Andy Burnham, supporting British Steel being renationalised) - he'll be supporting Celtic next 😉   -  he must be going through the change

I have never been to North Africa as the mithering faced in Turkey and Egypt both piss me off. As are so called 5* hotels that clearly couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

he's staying in Belyounech so he can see Gibralter from his window

Correct and Bolton Wanderers will win the Champions League trophy in 2029.

Relatives own a swish hotel there. Been offered a complete freebie. Be rude to say no.

'Bigly patriotism'. Where do these poltroons get them from?

Never heard of it. I'll be in Gibraltar a few times though. Sundowners on the Sunborn, oh yes.

Marrakesh matey but now Sweep has given it the thumbs down I am having doubts. Don't mind a tagine and having my snake charmed so I'll leave it on the itinerary for now.

Core competencies innit. As usual, Sir Nigel already has it worked out. A 'buying time' measure to hold on to a core competency.

I do support Celtic being relocated to Dublin if that helps?

The food was really good, I do recall that. And if it's a freebie, it'd be rude not to investigate. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts once you've been

Just sat at Phuket airport waiting for my flight home and realising depression is a real thing 😩. What a great holiday, Thailand never ceases to amaze me. It was almost 20 years since I was last here on a lads holidays, coming back with a missus and 3 kids was slightly different to say the least. Did all the usual stuff as well as a visit to an elephant sanctuary, snorkelling, island hopping, boat trips, a couple of days in Phi Phi, my mates wedding, ate like a king drank like a fish and the songkran festival which was mental and topped it all off. Prices have changed quite a lot since I was last here (as expected) but the cost of the holiday and spends would be something similar if not a bit cheaper than I would have spent on a holiday in the Canaries/Balerics.

Time to book another I think.

Very little price difference between long haul and the Eurozone these days.

Including myself 😉

I have just pissed on a piece of litmus paper to check that I am OK.  All is well. Blue all the way.

Will do pal.

Cheap break away in Berwick-Upon-Tweed this week. Haven jobby.

When the fuck did people start forming one single-file queue at a bar? It's massive, long bar, with at least 3 barstaff on, and everyone queues at the one on the right like they're at Alton Towers?!? The scutters have a proper hissy fit if you approach the bar like a person who hasn't lost their fucking mind.

I asked the barmaid when they brought this system in, and she said they didn't - it isn't a rule or anything, it just started happening.

Don’t queue

Remind the peasantry if they say anything that it’s Trumps new world order, they’ll love that.

Munich for 4 nights. Flying Friday morning.

Just checked the weather 😎SmartSelect_20250416_103656_SamsungInternet.thumb.jpg.94d5032bb6f5042484f3318d143520b1.jpg
