  • Thanks, A. It's true, though and I am surprised/a little disappointed that we don't pick up more enquiries (never mind bookings) from WW members. If you're booking directly with Jet2, Easyje

Toying of doing one of those hyroxs there and taking in the xmas markets with the family

It's a while since I went but I really liked it....

We stopped on the main square in the Hotel Brovaria, it had a superb restaurant within it...

Can also remember the Dragon Bar that stayed open until about 5am! Although, if you're going with the family you probably won't stop out that late!....

Golden circle get to see the lot gezzers , water falls , and hot springs for swimming you can do it in a day drive or on a coach trip then you have northern lights that’s hit and miss depending on the weather wouldn’t drive around it in winter though summer you are ok . Beer is expensive only way round that is there is a app that tells you which bars have happy hour on otherwise it’s expensive for ale £15 a pint

If teachers didn't have 13 weeks a year off at the same time kids and were able to take holidays during term time and there was contingency for cover (like every other job in the world) I'd have absolutely no issue with that whatsoever.

I'm not talking taking your kid at once a month and abusing it but families shouldn't be punished for having a holiday once a year. It's not indicative of real life either - you aren't liable for fines for booking a holiday when you're in employment.

There isnt though and never will be

And even if there was, what about when little johnnie gets back from seeing mickey mouse

Who catches him up?

Like I said, stagger school hols and spread demand a bit

When mine were young, ee were (fortunate) they had 2 weeks end of May, so we went then

Ive not been in july/august for 30 years but have to this year as we have a teacher in the family and its a big do

as Casino says, staggering school holidays is the way forward I'd have thought, although if they've not done it by now, I doubt they ever will

That's my point, I totally agree with you. It's not feasible for there to be any contingency cover in the current educational setup, why should parents be punished for this be choosing to either risk a fine, or pay absolutely extortionate prices to go away out of school time?

In terms of catching up, it's only the same as at work, I've missed training and things when I've been on annual leave before, you catch up when you are back in. The kids do exactly the same. We did when we went away as kids and we haven't got millions of people who have suffered and are unemployable now.

If parents are taking the piss and are taking kids out every other month for a week then that's what should be targeted. A family holiday once a year shouldn't result in fine in my opinion.

Did go into a bar called the sports bar and got talking to a local in there and he told me it was Eidurs local and he could be found in there most nights he said he had crashed is car while pissed up earlier in the week  so had not been in since but said he was a good guy for a chat and a beer

The scenery is something you have the Tetonic plates were the American continent meets Europe so you can have a wonder around there iand boat trips for whales not done that though weather looked a bit rough 🤢so plenty to do

If @little whitt does want to do the whale watching I highly recommend using Elding.

Just spent very pleasant 3 nights in Jersey. Spotlessly clean, & plenty pubs to go at.

They'll ask you if other transport was available etc and generally do their best not to payout.
Like big-name tour ops, insurance companies are generally cunts too.

Mmmm, thinks for a moment :)

Maybe cos i never went away in term time and maybe cos i see the effort a family member puts in, we will never agree

No worries

I didn't get it so no-one else should?

I'd love to see the figures for people unemployed because they missed a week's schooling as they had a weeks holiday on term time as kids... 😂

Stagger school holidays

Fuck that we don’t want kids running round on our holidays. Keep it confined to 2 weeks I say

Get it...i didnt 'get it' cos my parents didnt think it was right to take holidays in term time

I agree, so I never did with my kids

Say next year 10 kids off first two weeks March. 10 next 2. 10 first two weeks of april

Shitshow

I also think it sets a precedent that school is something to do if you want to rather than the most important thing in your young lives
