Quoting myself here But after some digging, if you combine the amount of shots on target we had in our games against Rotherham, Wigan, Birmingham, Huddersfield, Stockport and also Oxford at Wembl

I said a month or two back McAtee was a fraud. Does a load of arm waving and pointing, as though he's from a higher level and the others need the benefit of his advice, while doing absolutely fuck all

He says he asks the players to come out and show our DNA and what we are about and that's what we did... What playing like shite, having 1 shot on target against an incredibly poor side that had

In the BN this morning, obviously we know Charles is going, we are now linked to two more midfield players! Is Evatt for fuckin real? Unless Iles is not telling the truth again? A bit like Evatt who said only 3/4 days ago that Charles was going nowhere!

about the why the players signed for us and going out there to show what they can do, playing the way we play.

Is this not also a touch of self aggrandising?

Did they all sign purely because he told them we're the new city, and he's a Pep apostle or because we also offered them a good financial package, typically better than what they were on at a "lower" club?

We hardly "paid out" for anyone with a higher league pedigree, and convinced them of the "project".

Hopefully he's seeing sense and abandoning this current clusterfuck of a system. In that case, we won't need another forward.

It was absolute dross last night wasn't it. Then he comes out gaslighting us saying it was "Bolton DNA"

I sometimes wish his Dad's DNA ended up on the curtains instead of inside his mum.

Pathetic performance and more delusional comments and observations, despite him apparently not being delusional

Mid table 3rd div Tuesday night... Lincoln were livelier and we stood around like statues... except for the goalie's mistake they could have all played until midnight without scoring

I get 'be positive', 'don't criticise', even 'keep to the gameplan'.

I saw nothing of yesterday but speaking to those there, comments here & elsewhere, & hearing his review I have to wonder if he's had, or is having a breakdown.

It's more about self-preservation at this stage, I think. Saying things for the "people that matter"

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command

I’m mainly playing Devils advocate, because I find it hard to disagree with anything you’ve said.

We are quite rightly in a state of mind of dismissal of everything he says and does now, because what we are seeing in the main is poor, very poor.

But if we look at seasons 1-3, recruitment and on-boarding was very much about identifying and bringing in players through a methodical approach of the type of player that can play his way and players progressing, playing with other like minded players, achieving and having success. I’m not having that those factors (as well as the money of course) weren’t key factors in us signing some very good players.

Oh, I'm sure that played a part, just not all, as he seems to intimate.

Not sure that line will be much use now though.

Unless he changes tack (or at least puts the option into his locker).

Interesting debate.

I suspect you are probably right. I’m guessing Randall’s motivating factors are more in line with the money, getting away from Peterborough and being at a bigger club (as he intimated) rather than project Evatt, and attempting to play total football in L1.

He clearly is & he boasts of this. Fair play, he's not the only one. Except even Pep doesn't play the Pep way now ... & from some time before their current run.

The stunningly slow pit-a-pat is an Evatt version, not Pep's & Citeh's ability to turn defence into attack doesn't seem to be matched ourselves. Maybe it's in the second edition !

I recall him saying, maybe a years ago, that he's never met Pep, at least not to talk to, though he'd love to do. Does anyone know better on this ?

Coz, albeit a Div.3 team we're only 20 miles apart & though Pep's a superstar would he be unapproachable ?

If he feels Randall has to start regularly to justify his purchase, and still only employs one midfielder with a semblance of a tackle in him, then I can't see results improving.

Same old..

Maybe we're going to revolutionise and go to a 4-5-1 with plenty of attacking midfielders. Especially now Dion has gone.

I would be happy with that. Schon can play wide, Collins can come in off the flank, but we'll need a proper RB for that to happen. Is Tutu that guy?

At the moment, a lot of our issues are due to the spaces between our players. It stops us being able to play out from the back and we can't handle transition. The opposition just run through the middle of the pitch unchecked.

This could alleviate that

After what I saw last night I am rapidly thinking the players are lightweight shit... until now i thought a different management approach would help but watching those spineless fairies dance around in their little ankle socks did it for me.

The players are not as good as we, or they think they are.

Controlling and kicking a football, are things that they sometimes struggle with and they are the absolute basics

Thinking back to last season, even the season before, quiet a few of these players played then, in pretty much the same system and looked good players at this level.

Neither but you could trust both to retain possession and pass it to one of ours most times. Rioch didn't play route 1 but his sides attacked with speed and weren't scared to hit those 2 early and then support.

And McGinlay was like Le Fondre in that he could challenge for and win his fair share of headers just by having technique and a bit of strength and nous.  The opposite of any of our strikers now in that respect.

I'm not making this point to have a dig at IE, or the players, as you say not everything he's done is bad.

But when L1 players (as that's what every single one of them is) want a move, to get a bigger contract and have a bit more prestige of playing for a big club, where can they go?  Probably not good enough for Brum, Wrexham are totally route one and (other than McAtee?) not in for the same type of player as us, then there's Huddersfield.  So 3 or 4 clubs max.

They come here because we are paying the big bucks and they have next to no other options, who can blame them?

Not so seasons 1-3, good players who other clubs (higher and lower) would have wanted and a genuine belief that we were a club gunning for success playing good football.

Even now I think you’re being a little dismissive of who we are. I agree it’s much harder to sell a progressive vision at this current moment and as I highlighted above the Randall situation  puts other factors more prominent.

But I don’t think it’s too one-eyed to suggest we are still a big attraction to all players in our realistic sphere of interest. (despite Evatt and our current situation)

I'm not for a minute saying we aren't an attractive club to join in L1, quite the opposite.  If I was in their shoes I'd be buzzing to come here, all other things being equal (not everyone wants to live up north, etc).  I'm just saying that I wonder where else they could go?  Its not a criticism, but this isn't the championship where there are a dozen or more teams paying good money for decent players, we are a huge fish in a small pond and we aren't likely to be outbid by anyone other than those teams I mentioned.  In that respect, we have a relatively straight run at any players we're interested in.   If we go up we'll have a lot more competition for every signing presumably.

Sorry misunderstood, yeh I agree with that.

Going up…. now there’s a distant dream 🤣

So I’m hearing Port Vale or Wrexham away?
