January 21, 20251 yr We’ve been ok there to be fair. quicker play out from the back, more balanced in midfield, that extra man frees Sheehan up with more time so he can play, press has been much better, only criticism is the Collins up top on his own. Kind of get it with Randall behind but he’s not the type where it’s going to stick. But we’ve looked much more fluid and attack minded. Only a goal missing from that. can we turn an ok 45 mins in to a good 90 minutes though?…
January 21, 20251 yr Author Refreshing not getting overrun in midfield for once anyway. Who'd have thunk

January 21, 20251 yr Got to drag Tomo off, very lucky escape Much brighter but arguably still lacking in final third and still look shaky at the back at times Crowd very patient and supportive, it has to be said
January 21, 20251 yr He’s a liability. He is in no way physical. Fouling players is not physical. Getting 9 yellow cards in half a season when you’ve been out for 7 games is not physical. He’s too slow, which means he’s always a split second behind and has to resort to rugby tackling or lunging. He doesn’t go shoulder to shoulder and brush players off the ball, he doesn’t come out of 50:50s winning the ball cleanly, he can’t head. He’s seriously fucking limited and no bid from Bristol a few years ago is going to change my mind on that.

January 21, 20251 yr So much better to watch than the dross we’ve had to endure lately. Sure there are things we need to improve but at least it’s not bad pass after bad pass - passing has been crisp, just lacking a goal at the end of it. interesting that when we sign a left back that the wide men start playing better all of a sudden. It’s been entertaining.
January 21, 20251 yr Can’t help thinking this team but with Charles upfront and we’d look much more threatening
January 21, 20251 yr We lose alomost every 50-50 header or tackle, every throw we lose posession, we fuck about with it at the back until the inevitable fuck up or we lose posession, nobody shows for an out ball and they are clueless breaking the press, having said thar its been a little better !!

Thomo on a red card and been a bit ineffective , get him off for Matete before we go down to 10 men . Southwold looking the part .
January 21, 20251 yr Generally better than uts been for a while. Moving it much quicker. Rim Wolf very disappointing so far. Absolutely scandalous decision from the ref not give give Thomason a 2nd yellow. Glad he didn't, obviously. Evatt has to take him.off at HT.
January 21, 20251 yr At risk of sounding like I’ve got a completely negative outlook today. We do look much better, but I’m afraid it’s as @gonzo pointed out - Charlton haven’t read the manual on how to play against us. They are properly shit and seem to want to give us the chance to play ‘our way’. And we’re still not winning.

He usually did OK afterwards though! Bit different this season, and his challenge tonight was described as tired. Matete should come on then

Bolton have been garbage from throw ins since the early 1980s , this is nothing new . With the exception of Kevin Nolans turn into space from a throw.
January 21, 20251 yr At least We've at least had a bit of control. The extra mid gives you that. Still think we're getting exposed in wide areas.
January 21, 20251 yr Should take him off not because he’s a liability but because he’s blowing his bollocks off and has been since 30 mins.
January 21, 20251 yr Decent first half agree with most GT needs to come off he is looking at a red card. Not missing Santos and playing out quicker . Need a strong number 9 in this window.
January 21, 20251 yr Author Always have to be careful with GT because he also has the strange ability to make fairly innocuous tackles look worse than they are
