Reebok

Read today that reebok will be the makers of Charltons new kit for the upcoming season.    A tad random

Not seen the name around much these days. Glad to see they are still kicking - even though it's Boston, Massachusetts now rather than Bolton, Lancashire.

Iirc, once Adidas bought them, the brand went quiet.

Could be wrong with this, but I seem to remember the brand going independent again, or something of that ilk.

They sold it to 'Authentic Brands Group' in 2022 for $2.5Bn.

Couple of UK companies can produce with their logo under licence so just glorified team wear really

No different to what it always was. The original Bolton-based Reebok always outsourced mass-produced product.

I know it's ridiculous but i did feel a twinge of disappointment that we weren't the first club they came back in to English football with.

Would have been a good marketing story if nothing else.

Yeah

Each to their own but the last few kits they made for us were fucking dreadful

I also think as a brand they're on a par with the likes of Fila, Dunlop, Slazenger, etc. now

I.e. prime Sports Direct fodder

It would've been lovely, but we've already got a multi-year contract with Macron for kit manufacture (ending 2030/31), and Victorian Plumbing for sponsorship (ending 2026/27).

Agreed, but I blame our Marketing team. The word "no" is available. If that confuses any of them then upgrade to "wtf do you call that pile of shite ?" can be tried.

Also doing Israel too which has been met with the expected reaction

Our Macron kits for me have been exceptional throughout.

Some absolute belters.

That old style kit Port Vale have just brought out is class! Wish we'd do that.

Just had a look

When you said old style kit

I was expecting a Tunstall Insurance effort from 1992

Isn't it like our FA Cup shirt from t'other year? A limited edition to celebrate an anniversary of some sort?

From what I read it seems it's the new first team home kit which they will actually play in, based on the original 150 year old one

Fair enough, though our plan was to play every FA Cup game in the special edition shirt, we lost in the first round so only wore it the once.

I don't even remember us wearing it!

I saw it in the flesh on Sunday in Manchester. The university of Staffordshire sponsor on the back is a nice finish to it.

Lost 2-1 to Barnsley we scored 2 of the goals.

I was thinking of that stripy thing we had.

I’ve got the shirt that Santos used to score for them. I guess getting knocked out straight away makes it more of a collector’s item 😆
