tickets on sale for this, so will presume it's going ahead, will wait till day or day itself before till I get tickets though, just in case

but looking forward to it as we should be able to smash them

be interesting to see how many they bring, wouldn't surprise me if they filled the south stand given the chance, though they've initally been given 3,700 at £10/£5 a pop

They'll bring a lot. At those prices and everything they're going through, they'll support their team

I also don't think they'll have any choice other than to play as a strong a team as they can so it may be a tough evening

I was under the impression they were in the same situation as us, with players handing in their notice and leaving them with a squad of kids (we had a lad on the bench v Coventry who was waiting for his GCSE results)

can't see any senior players who haven't been paid busting a gut

hard to see us getting out from this, unless they have to field the kids

if they can put a decent side out i'll go

Barry Bannan has just signed a new contract there so he can't be arsed about not being paid

he seems a decent bloke

Quote

Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan on talkSPORT this morning: "Staff members can't pay mortgages and are really, really struggling. It's the staff that we're [the players] having to go in and look at every day, who are cooking us meals, cleaners... the little things like that really effect us players. "They are not getting any help and they are really struggling. We're at the top of the ladder and it was a strong stance from us [refusing to play vs Burnley] to say, basically, it needs to stop and we need a bit of clarity going forward."

That’s just making sure he gets paid imo. Football creditors don’t get fucked off like the local pie shop etc

To be fair he really loves the club and since he’s probably not short of a bob or two and knows he will get paid anyway, why should he move? Fair play to the guy, loyalty is in very short supply these days.

He was out of contract and claimed he could have gone elsewhere though maybe he knows he won't be getting anything near to what he's been on?

It’s making sure he gets paid. Footballers are selfish and rightly so

Surely the contract isn't worth the paper it's written on if the players aren't getting paid anyway. I highly doubt the owners have signed off on it. And he was reportedly on 25k a week until his contract expired last month. Weird.

Agreed. Find it hard to see it being approved given the current state. It will though mean he’s guaranteed the money when it all goes shit

Guaranteed the money from who though?

Don’t the PFA step in and pay the players’ wages if a club goes pop?

Summat like that anyway.

Administrators before insolvency. They are ahead of all other creditors

In which case he's not done it for his love of the club. Which I suppose is the point you're making. I just don't understand how anyone involved can legally approve contracts when nobody is getting paid.

I don't think it's as bad as we had it. But I could be wrong. I often am.

To be fair, some of their lads are on a million a year and if they get a take over, they'll still be on it, with potential backpay. Not likely they'll get anywhere near that elsewhere. Even on a free

He was out of contract, its not like they tried to change his contract whilst not paying him

They are not in admin, not under embargo or any other restriction so what would stop them offering a new contract?

The fact they aren't paying the wages of those currently contracted?
