Sheffield Wednesday (H) - League Cup Round 1

tickets on sale for this, so will presume it's going ahead, will wait till day or day itself before till I get tickets though, just in case

but looking forward to it as we should be able to smash them

be interesting to see how many they bring, wouldn't surprise me if they filled the south stand given the chance, though they've initally been given 3,700 at £10/£5 a pop

I'm glad it wasn't just me that thought we had some decent attacking moments, I thought I'd dreamt it. Negativity on here is unbelievable, you'd think we were bottom of the league in November not

  • Pretty much my thoughts, decent night in all. Went on my tod, expected nothing, sat next to this sound woman from the States (small handful) who was over with her kid for some tournament. Enjoyed a pa

Most comments I heard coming away was that it was enjoyable, entertaining and a proper cup tie!  (and that the keeper was crap). £10 for that (and no queues getting away!) compared to about £30 v

Not made my mind up about this yet.

I get all that but we never used to, I've been to pre-season friendlies not that long ago with 3k on with 3 stands open for home fans.  At Burnden there'd be 1,500 on for a Lancashire cup match and every terrace and seated area was open!

Was this in the era when the club kept going bust ?

I'm not disagreeing with that but IMO the attitude of the club is/was that nobody's interested, and that sets a tone - if everyone expects its going to be dead from the day the draw is made, they are less likely to go.

The ticket map shows fans that are happy to squeeze into ESL, those that want to sit in North or West stand with maybe a bit of room near them (my elderly neighbours who've been going for 60 years for eg), aren't buying - amongst fans with other valid reasons as you say.

The approach of the club will reflect their experience of demand for similar games.

Not wrong to keep some areas closed.

As others have said, had more tickets been sold, then more would be open.

Why choose to raise your own costs?

I do wonder if that many Wednesday fans would have come had they not been at risk of not having a team to follow in the near future.

And you won’t be the only one thinking that.

Conversely, there might be some who have bought a ticket but would prefer home bbq or beer garden instead.

To be clear my number of posts on this is out of proportion with how much I care 😀

But whilst I agree with what your points, I'm also offering the view that one reason for low demand is the vibes given off by the club that its a nothing match, and telling folk they can only sit in one bit (or just watch it at home with a better view than some seats).

They still open South Lower for low key league games for a few hundred people, presumably extra costs apply to those games too?

Re Wednesday fans, they always travel well, brought a similar number last time we played them in league cup.  I had to check the year, it was 2017 under Parky and I can still remember how well Bannan played for them!  Armstrong and Karacan scored for us, Rhodes for them.

1-0 Warren.

Warren to end the game as our leading scorer so far this season.

Will it be on iFollow, or other places?

Was going. Lads have all buggered off to Bolton. Can’t be arsed sitting on a bus or playing catch up, not playing a tenner for a a cab for a pint

Probably out 😂

Will be watching from Innsbruck. Real Madrid team flew in and landed right behind us yesterday. More importantly we will win 2-0 tonight.

Sky sports+

I can’t be arsed with cup games, nowt to do with not opening all the ground. I only attend finals these days.

But I have fucked cup games off in the past when it was lower tier only

That side looks really unbalanced but let’s just see how it goes

No Toal or Johnston. Hopefully just being rested up.

That's a weakened side but got some decent quality in there and very interesting to see Inwood and Warren.

Great that we can produce a side like this with huge changes from Saturday and we have Dalby, Cissoko, Forrester, Dempsey and Taylor to add to the mix.

Schon nowhere to be seen. Maybe something more imminent than 72 hours ago when SS spoke about him.

Advantage of a shit crowd is easy parking on middlebrook

LH white has finally hacked into curdled milks profey.

Can't make tonight, babysitting me own kid whilst missus is out getting her face refurbished for imminent summer holiday, but will be tuned in with a selection of cold n golds resting at 3 degrees and some salty popcorn.

4 baht the whites. Mcatee to bag and 8 or more bolton corners is tonight's winning bet ladies and gents.

Main thing that guarantees is a decent pay-day because as the old saying goes "Leeds will take thousands there".
