I didn’t say we had underestimated the opposition, I said we needed to be careful not to but as far as missing chances is concerned the fact is we have so as of now for me that’s our biggest issue to address.

There seem to be some made up problems for tonight.

How anyone can say we've ever underestimated the opposition is anyone's guess.  If we don't beat a team below is it down to thinking they're a poor side?  

Its a L1 game, its very even, we might win and we might not, but we aren't playing Chorley in the cup and just thinking we have to turn up for god's sake.

….or is it poor marking, individual errors, bad passing, poor crosses, inconsistency, lack of quality in some areas, bad touches, movement, positioning, team imbalance or ruthlessness in front of goal when we do get chances?

If any team stops conceding avoidable goals and scores all their chances they'll win 46 out of 46. 

I don't really see that we've missed sitter after sitter. Four points and four goals feels about right based on the performances and how those matches went.

To be fair that's stating the bleedin obvious.  We could have Van Dijk and Stones at CB and still be complaining about the goals they concede.  The 3 goals we've conceded this season were all scored by strikers that just did better than us at the time, that's what they're paid to do, they don't come close to some of the poor goals conceded by other teams this season (or us last season at times).

It doesn't mean we weren't concentrating or fully aware, the Stockport and Barnsley strikers each scored 1 not several, partly because we were defending well the rest of the time.  We're never going to achieve perfection and neither will anyone else.

Generally we've defended ok so far, v Stockport they didn't make many chances and took a half chance and a set piece well, we looked solid enough v Plymouth and Barnsley only scored one, albeit the most obviously poor one to concede. 

That's the league, some of the defending v Sheff Wed youth was pretty dodgy but with a mixed bag of personnel and a man light for an hour. 

Room for improvement for sure, especially down our right, but overall it's not so bad up to now

Vaguely recall him playing, only remember him as he was the reserve at Newcastle on Championship manager after Pavel S.. And really liked their Keeper kits from the early 90's.

Billy Wrigglesworth. According to wiki 39 goals in 141 games for 9 different league teams. Only 5 foot 4 but with the eyes of a killer and hard as fuck no doubt. Died in Accrington.

Not to overstate a league game in August, with 42 more to go, but this game will help define whether the start is good, bad or very average.  The first game we've gone into as clear favourites on paper.

A win and 7 points from 4, top 10 and 3 points off 2nd would be decent.  A defeat or even a draw makes our points total look a bit poor.  Not many games in a season when the difference between winning and drawing is 9th or bottom half.
