Think we're gonna need to be a bit patient with Dalby.  He missed the whole pre season due to injury. Gonna take him a few games.

  • If there’s no injuries, taking the red card out, that was a good night for the squad. A very good night for certain individuals. Miller - so much better than his debut Smith - Great sta

Yes and no.

That would be fine.

Many played in the last game too.

Seems there is a possibility of an out to Scotland.

Unless that's McAtee, then I'd expect him to start tomorrow.

If not, then why the fuckery haven't we got shut?

Aye I’m assuming he goes tonight

There has been so many incomings, I can't remember if Sissy is a loan or permanent.

Loan with a view to another year.

Yeah you usually can

It's on Sky Sports + according to my telly the other day. If its a nice night I might go but tempting to sit on my arse at home.

Think I saw the record low for one of these was 1,549 or thereabouts v Everton u21s back in 2016. Might not be many more tonight

Not decided whether to go…

probably not..

Team prediction

                         Broome

Cogley       Forino   Johnston      Taylor

                Simons     Morley

                         Randall

      Gayle                          Warren

                         Dalby

A mix from main squad and those on the periphery.

I'd prefer Inwood in for Johnston, and hopefully get a brief run around for Christie and Forss.

I'm actually looking forward to this competition as I think SS will treat it correctly and get minutes in for the wider squad, plus some off the bench minutes for the B team. As opposed to I used to dread these games when Evatt would just run the first team into the ground to boost that win %.

Almost impossible to breach them, as Desperado has mentioned. For example Christie would count as one of the 4 if we wanted despite not playing for us before.

It's just to stop a complete team of under 18s, you could still put 7 of them out.

I had him in my first team - but isn’t he with Ireland U21s?

According to Iles he should be available for this, then heading off. He did admit himself he wasn't sure though.

EFL clubs must field at least four qualifying outfield players, such as those who started the previous match, were among the top 10 players for appearances that season, have 40+ career appearances, or are on loan from a Premier League/Category One club

I think Cogley, Morley, Randall Simons and Forino, possibly even Taylor (+40 professional appearances?) at least cover us.

Not a chance Cogley starts this only fit r/b at club Morley will start Saturday Sheehan away with Wales so he wont be near the starting 11....Simons behave and Firino will be taking Toals place Saturday so he is not starting

Taylor will start as will Cissoko, Randal, Mcatee and Dalby will so that will see us ok........Christie, Gayle, Forrester , Forss will also feature at some point   way more than enough to

Use these matches to give returning players a run out and fringe players mins to keep match fit....Dont want any players likely to start the following game involved.

Right, so the midfield won't include Morley, as he's starting Saturday.

Simons (behave) won't be starting, neither for the same reason.

EE, by that definition, also won't play tonight.

I think I understand you're thinking, bit I'd just ask- who is going to play in midfield?

Who starts RB then? I'd have thought Cogley for 60, Christie for 30 makes sense.

Also Simons didn't start at the weekend, so can't see the harm in him getting 45 mins or so now to be ready for Saturday. Erhahon looked knackered and Sheehan may be away so not seeing alternatives.

Interesting…

The proof will be in the pudding, so if those you say have no chance don’t start then you will have provided the reasons.

…. however I think there’s valid reasons they will start…

The most controversial is Cogley, because as you say he’s our only fit RB. But his good fitness and injury record together with teaming him up with some fellow starters for Saturday would make sense to me.

Forino hasn’t played a great deal, so I’m surprised you are so definitive about him.

Same with Morley really - he might not do the full 90, but pairing him up with Simons could be something SS wants to see again. And Simons didn’t start Saturday.

Match freshness at this stage of the season for those who haven’t been overplayed I wouldn’t consider a negative.

The only ones IMO who would fall into the don’t overplay them category are; Burstow, Conway and ACD.

I’m not sure how you can sound so categoric one way.

I really don’t mind, both ways are justifiable.

Forgot about Conway - I really don’t see him starting either

Sharples, Randal and perhaps Erhahon who looks like he is not quite match fit and 45 mins may do him more good than harm

Need to play a few from the B team Anyone who Schumacher has to start Saturday should be no where near this......This trophy has hurt our promotion hopes the last three years

No you may be right in everything you say, they are your views. I put a counter view across and reasons for them. Firino has played a few behind the door/b games so he has kept active.  The fact Toal and Sheehan are missing Saturday  and no right back bar Cogley has me thinking Schumacher will be more cautious

whoever is our right back in the B team......Give Christy how many mins the management team think he needs........Need to stop taking risks in this trophy

Put the women's team out for this with Joel Randall as the 10.

With our opposing views onthis you won’t be surprised to hear I disagree! But all valid opinions

Although I’m still not sure how you can be so forthright in your assertions that some players shouldnt be anyway near the first team and I need to behave in my selection. 😊

But listen if you’re right, I’ll be the first on here to say you were and that your reasons have merit.

I hope you can be equally fair.

Because I still think we’ll see a combination of the main squad and those on the periphery.

And if he does, the reasons I state will probably be considered and are good reasons.

The reason I don’t mind which way he goes is that SS and his coaching team will be best placed to know what his squad and players need and I’m pretty sure that will include some who will play Saturday.

Given Sheehan, Toal and Inwood are away this weekend I wouldn't be surprised to see all 3 start

will stick it on the background and keep an eye on it - but just seen it starts at 7pm!

is that a first for us in this trophy? or does it happen every season

also, don't care who plays other than hoping to see Broome in goal

I imagine Taylor might start as he made the bench on Saturday and you know how managers are about players returning from injury. I know it's a complex choice, especially with internationals and the rule above, but I'm sure Schumacher will use it wisely and give time to players who need it, even if the team is imbalanced. After all, the result doesn't really matter so he has options.

Roof Tyler in goal and we lose no matter what other 10 he picks

They always start at 7pm for some reason.
