2026 Holidays

Where’s everyone off to?

I’m off to Antigua on a @Traftour on Saturday for a week. Early January is now my favourite time to get away for the “big” holiday of the year.

Thinking of Porec in Croatia for a week in June but nowt else planned other than a drive around Ireland to finally spread the MiL’s ashes

Like to hear where you good folk are planning as it’s inspired me in the past

Not a holiday, but a weekend away for my last year of my 30s. Belfast is full of old man pubs and I’m in my fucking element 😍

All I can say is Auschwitz was fucking horrific but I can say I am glad I went. The salt mines were OK, not really my bag to be honest. Krakow itself is fabulous and good value, love it here

Anyone been to Naples? All european cities are great tbh but hoping for some WW info if possible.

Naples is great. Proper city. Been a couple of times, watched Salernitana and did Pompeii the first time then went to see Napoli in October before getting the ferry to Ischia for a few nights. Doing the same in October this year. Good food, characters everywhere (especially spaccanapoli at a weekend) but no mither (wouldn't fancy handing about around the station at night though) and great things to see and do in Naples itself or nearby by train/bus/ferry etc.

Me and the missus love it and would recommend going to anybody but I also know people who hated it and said it's a shit hole, which I find hard to get my head around.

Yoof Jnr did inter railing last year. Got an AirBnB by the station. Sent video clip of the street where the rats were only outnumbered by needles.

Loved the rest of it though

There or Northumberland coast

Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby also

Northumberland our favourite in UK, been a dozen times and got wed in Bamburgh Castle. Stayed in various places along the coast, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Amble, Druridge Bay.

This time, between Xmas and New Year, had a change and went a little inland, 3 nights in Alnwick, great base for touring the coast and enough I the town itself to keep you going.

Had to cancel next months holiday to Cape Verde (medical reasons) now just got Portugal in May/.June and Lanzarote in September

Anyone been to Riga in Latvia?

Am taking the wife there next weekend for her birthday so any food/drink/site seeing recommendations welcome.

Went for five days in October, great city, plenty to see and cheap as chips, although many bars in the centre upped their prices for the England fans,

We went end of 2024. Got a full itinerary if you want it. Wife makes pretty detailed plans of food/activities anywhere we go so its full of links to buy tickets to museums etc. If you want it then drop me a message.

Went a couple years back. Found it crazy that you walk down the street, amongst these stunning buildings and then walk around the corner and it just be completely covered in shit.

The main square in the evening turns into a battle royale to get your custom for street food, drinks, snake charmers and performing monkeys.

Restaurant that's about 20 mins walk out of the centre called La Trattoria is mega and a cocktail place round the corner called Barometre. You'll try and get jipped every time for taxis. Turn down every offer and barter on everything.

And be prepared to likely have the shits.

Went a couple of years ago, going back next month.

Cheap, safe, stunning place. Easily in my top 5 cities visited.

If you fancy a good laugh make sure you visit the waxwork museum (even if just for the basement!)

Turkey on the 22nd for a week
