This was incredibly evident last night and highlights further a) they're atrocious on the ball and b) SS doesn't know his best midfield because nobody has claimed it above all doubt

Works both ways.

Pass it quicker before men are closed down. Move quicker to make small spaces available. 

Symbiotic. Easy on paper, and when they're all buzzing. Difficult when things drop off a bit.

 

If you think about how we all felt after Peterborough nobody would have expected 10 points out of four and three games won with very late goals. The resilience and character we thought was absent is there and we have shown it on dark January days against League 1 scrappers.

Rode our luck last night, no doubting that  I just hope we are teeing ourselves up for a proper assault when better form arrives. Apter and CTB through the door now.

Looking at the points gap, and their form, it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Hopefully, they'll already be up.

Yeah Cardiff could be a survive at all costs type game! That Bradford one though for a last away has looked huge to me since fixtures came out 🔥

They can't go up directly, are guaranteed a play off spot, and have a few with knocks that need resting.

They'll be more people after Bradford tickets than we're in the ground last night 

+ Dalbys biggest critic me but was MOM by a mile. Linked play up well, pressed well and still managed to get into the place where it counts to get those scruffy goals that we have been lacking over the last few seasons. Still slow as hell not easy to watch but If he plays like that everyone around him will find it easier and have more success.

+ Another injury time winner, been so many this season, nothing better. 

+ Seeing an anti-football team get what they deserve after getting their hopes up of a point.

+ Erhahon really good again, that 3-5-2 bringing out the better side of Forino and Demps.

- Awful to watch, which to be fair was expected missing Sheehan and ACD whilst playing against such a shithouse team on a cold January evening.

- Our defenders looking confused at what to do against the low block as though its a massive surprise that is happening.

And so would Sheehan or anybody looking forward when there is no movement ahead of them. Too many forwards looking to stand still and receive to feet instead of working harder like a  Championship player and running into space.

”I like Sheehan but….” he drops back to take it off the defenders and doesn’t realise that him being there gives us one passing option less. Needs to play further up the pitch and make forward passes under pressure.

Agree on Dalby, MOM easily.  He's a strange CF in that I can't ever remember him having a "shot", all his efforts at goal are close to goal, using the pace of the ball coming to him and just making contact.  I can't remember him pulling his foot back and striking through the ball, once.  Compared to say Burstow who likes to pull the trigger from 20 yards if he can get the space.  I wonder if Dalby would even take a pen in a shoot out!

Disagree on Burton, not sure how they were anti-football?  Stevenage were anti-football - every throw in our half launched into the box, every challenge a foul, no passing it in their own half.  Burton the total opposite, not a shithouse team in the slightest and played some good stuff.  There wasn't even a low block, the opposition have to stand somewhere, it was hardly a block of any description, we just made it look like one at times by over playing at the back.

When an opposition isn't wide open with massive gaps in the channels it's now considered a low block.
