You can imagine how sceptical he must have been initially, and you always expected he’d not get a game in the Prem etc but for a spell him, Barness and Charlton were incredible.

was so underwhelmed when those two turned up, on the back of two play off defeats, and losing Gudjohsen and Jensen (and later Fish)

it just felt like were stagnating and turning back into an average Championship side

Europe would've felt a million miles away at that point

Someone should've told him about that nose hair

Thats what the wife kept banging on about!!

Was an incredible watch. Was 10 when he came in and 18 when he left, my coming of age era watching Bolton and know how lucky it was to be around that time.

Don't think we'll ever get back anywhere near the heights we hit under Sam.

The amazing thing for me was all the technological/psychological things he brought in that are now common place not just within football but across sport generally.

He was an absolute pioneer.

Just watched it this morning and it really made me feel different about BWFC, very uplifting and for the next few days i might feel more positive about our situation, unfortunately we now find ourselves light years away from those heady days, ah well, onwards and upwards 🤞🤞

Brilliant film and many happy memories, including Bourgas, Guimaraes and Marseille, which weren’t really covered in the film.

However, is that the (quite a few years later) post-Allardyce academy that produced the England internationals Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsdale?

I’d also question if Lostock is worse than Euxton?

Ramsdale joined Sheff Utd at 15 so not sure we can claim much there. Point taken on Holding, but we were obviously a very different club by that point.

Lostock is probably better than Euxton in terms of having the artificial pitches etc, but a lot of it is still cabins etc isn’t it? With the amount of focus that was placed on the off-field stuff, it just feels a bit weird that there wasn’t a focus on completely revamping the facilities as well (other than the chryo chamber and the minor improvements they made for the kitchens etc)

Thought it was a bit sad at the end big Sam tearing up . What could have Been and missed opportunities and what came after the mistakes made and were we are now .

Do we own Lostock or is it just rented? If it’s rented maybe we can’t erect permanent buildings?

5 games for U21

Just reading up about him after he left Arsenal. Sold to Palace for £4m and made one appearance after falling out with the manager.

Didn't Burnley bid about £18m for him, but he couldn't agree terms?

Had a few tongues wagging until it materialised that sticky Ken sold the sell-on clause for about £50k

Playing for Colorado Rapids now.  The link is they are owned by Stan Kroenke, same as Arsenal.

He's had quite a strange career really

Just watched it.

Did enjoy Sam, looking these days like a bit of an old brute, had the eyes of a child when he watched the footage and the players speaking about him.
