Unfortunately - this is probably the case. It matters less what you actually achieved these days - and more how it's perceived on social media.

The flip side to that is - there's a huge number of people who can't reason past what party someone represents. There's at least as many wind up merchants behind anonymous accounts. And at least as many bots too.

A platform like Facebook is unrecognisable to the fun way to keep in touch with friends and family it used to be. It's a horrible company - with a despicable algorithm.

Facebook's algorithm is one of the better ones. Tik toks is absolutely abhorrent

My trouble is that I argue with racists and conspiracy theorists - so Facebook thinks I must like racists and conspiracy theorists and gives me more of it.

It's my own fault for interacting with them. But my algorithm is a cesspit now!

I don’t see anything political at all on Facebook. Probably because I don’t search for anything anywhere

Sport from BWFC, F1, Rugby League and cricket

Music from 70s punk stuff, ska and adverts for local events along with theatre ads

Local shite from local groups

Videos of boats unloading cargoes of pebbles and sand

Probably reflects my online searches (apart from the cargo ships which I’m now addicted to) so the algorithm works OK for me on Facebook. I didn’t do Twitter or TikTok

My facebook is a mixture of busters and sailing videos. Sometimes I'm lucky and it's topless sailing, but that's rare.

The government wants pupils to take courses like AI and manufacturing which are linked to local jobs.

I planned and delivered a set of 6 ai lessons last May. This year they're outdated as its developed so much.

The basics remain the same, machine learning, supervised and unsupervised grouping etc but the applications are evolving quicker than education can keep up.

So a kid doing a gcse/btec in computing will find a lot of what they learn irrelevant.

I teach in python, no need for pointers, switch case etc it now self corrects and it's syntax is pretty much pseudocode now. You don't even have to set days types now as long as you take inputs as integers.

Basically it'd own built in ai has made it so half the stuff people had to learn 5/6 years ago is all done for you.

Same with photoshop

Same with blender for rendering..

If a kid wants to head down that path great, but shouldn't be shoe horning kids that way as 80% of kids aren't remotely interested

It is not just talking about IT.

It is the opposite of shoe horning it is talking about offering relevant courses to the area , so preparing kids that want to work in local industries skills that match the industry, rather then thinking learning about Ox bow lakes is all that matters.

It says the subjects will be offered - like normal GCSE options - not that kids will be shoehorned in or forced to take them.
