I'd go..........Bonham

Stephenson...Forino....Davies.....Farnewo

Watson........Conway

Olazaball......Sheehan......Gale

Dalby

0-0 after 60 mins then bring on Dong for his pace & Hardie for his goalscoring & we'll paste them

probably

......a slight problem could be if they scored first. we couldn't break down a poor div 1 defence after they scored last Saturday & resorted to lumping long balls to Dalby with no other cunt anywhere near him.......

A real shame, but it could have been much worse.

Still 7 or 8 games though.

People on here would be casting him.aside as injury prone if you give them half a chance.

Last season he started 4 league games in Brazil and 6 league games for us, excluding play offs.

At least he should be fresh when he comes back in October v Stoke!

Let’s hope some siege mentality, a full house and a new defensive line can give us the impetus we need for 3 points.

That's about it, I reckon SS will be checking back on his dash cam footage to see if he's run over any black cats recently.

It's a big blow, without question, and SS will earn his corn and some finding a way for us to get points over that period without what RR brings.

Championship's new Dogs of War incoming

Not too sure I would be describing Simons as a starting midfielder.

Had a mixed season last time round, and will need to show greater consistency this.

I still have concerns about the defensive aspect of a two man midfield and wingers.

Yes we're concerned about losing Simons, but week after week after week SS didn't see fit to start with him in L1. So if we've signed Watson to play in this league its hardly a resounding vote of confidence that he's behind a stand-in, he's not behind a first XI player.

If Watson's too big a risk, I'd be happy to put Brunt in there as a "championship standard" player, if his only job is to make us more solid (open play and set pieces).

Fair enough, but if SS plays a midfield three of Watson, Sheehan, and Conway, I'd be asking serious questions of his judgement

We back on Conway being a midfielder again D

That goal against Bradford has done a good job wiping people's memories of Simons. Feels like he's seen as the player he was assumed to be this time last year, rather than the one who barely played for six months. And when he did play we invariably didn't win.

Whether Watson's good enough himself we'll see, but purely comparing the two I don't think he has a high bar to clear to be an improvement.

That's definitely overly negative on Simons. He was very good for the first quarter of the season to the point we thought we had a championship level player.

Then he fell off the next quarter as can happen for younger players. And then didn't really get a chance to prove himself the second half of the season. The goal at Bradford merely reminded people we have a quality young player on our hands.

I actually thought he looked very good on Saturday till the red card, and exactly the kind of forward playing midfielder we need alongside Sheehan.

Does it work when the opposition wear white also...

Old man grumbling aside it's a good idea to try to make more of an event of it and make people come into it in play off final spirits. And a gimmick we can only do for a few weeks while the weather is good. All for it

That cameo in centre midfield v Wednesday shows that's a no go.

Left wing also a no go because he's not right footed.

Squad as it is at the moment could be better being 5 at the back though and I'd say he's a better wing back option than Famewo

Bloody outrageous.

without RR I'd rather go 442 or 352

Never seen Fam play WB tbh. But that's Conways only possible position in our first fully fit 11.

Sheehan in the middle, mcatee at number 10

Conway has never started in midfield so no reason to start now

SS confirmed he’s back and fit.

But obviously not fully up to speed with no preseason.

Largely suspect subs bench

Ah, I haven’t watched his pre-match interview yet. That’s good news! 👍🏻

I've always enjoyed watching Conway play, he's got great technique, accepting that he's not exactly Stuart Pearce-esque defensively. So we brought in Famewo because he's seemingly more solid (physically and positionally). I think our main tactic this season compared to last is to be more solid as a starting point, which we all probably all agree with, so I just don't see wingbacks being an option for starting games. When we're trailing in the 2nd half it might be hard work trying to get back into it without the relative flair of Conway and Tutu. Hopefully its a while before we find out 😄

We never need to be concerned about that unattainable phenomenon ☹️

People thought TSL was a Championship player for a time last season and for nine games Mason Burstow looked like he might play for England.

I'm not saying he needs to retire as a lost cause or anything. But he rightly lost his place in the side and from Christmas-time onwards his starts were...

Wycombe (a) - Lost

Mansfield (h) - Lost

Doncaster (a) - Losing when he was taken off. Drew

Wigan (a) - Drawing when taken off. Won.

Stevenage (a) - Drew

Orient (h) - Drawing when taken off. Won.

Port Vale (a) - Lost

Bradford was something of a start, but he hasn't done nearly enough to show he'd be capable of starting in the Championship. I'm not convinced he's currently better than Dempsey who'll be playing in L2 this weekend.

Lies, damned lies and statistics. From just using my eyes I can tell you there's a championship standard player there

Aye must admit I thought he was the second coming at the start of the season.

Can't help but feel something happened off the pitch or summet to cause such a drop off in form injuries aside.

TSL's situation wasn't helped by us going through a phase where any shot on target seemed to result in a goal.

A win. Any win.

I know two born and bred Preston lads down here. One is a proper Nob Ender and will be having a go if they get a result. The other doesn't give a fuck about PNE and supports Dundee United. Proper Lancashire lad with no 'dad's team' allegiances or anything. Worked on a long term contract in Dundee and finally 'found football' when the lads he worked with forced him along to Tannadice for each home game.

No need to worry about the latter. Just don't want the former giving it Billy big bollocks.

COYFWM.

Can all those that have picked their so called starting 11 please have another go.....Lewis Brunt will be starting as he has had a full pre-season

4 year contract and Someone SS has chased a while.....Think this lad could be the new captain

Would have him at the side of Sheehan Saturday
