English League Cup Coventry 4-2 Bolton 26-09-1990

bonus point for the goalscorers...

not sure Homer but think mickey gynn scored a couple on that night

August 31 -  Blackpool 3-0 - you'll have to guess the year I'm not admitting to it.

Clue for Biff - Stevens and Allcock (2) were the scorers

That sounds to me like 1956. Hopkinson in goal because Lancashire Cricket Club wouldn't release Ken Grieves and Joe Dean was injured. Stan Matthews declined to play, he'd had gravel rash from Tommy Banks before.

Good try - one out. First home game of the glorious 57/58 season. What a year to start supporting. A lot of downhills since then but great again now.

ps. 1956/57 first game was v Blackpool but we won 4-1 (Lofthouse 3, Stevens)

Cheers for that Biff, twas doing my head in not knowing the actual date

I think my first game was Watford in the cup c1984 I think we lost (was a Jonah even then!) 2-1, any idea of the dates george?

Hull City A Feb 1976 was the first game I remember being at, prob first game was 1975.

the other Anglo Italian home was famously refereed by Collina.

I don't know the first Bolton game i saw.Or even the season.

was that the 3-3 against Brescia? and did Ghorghe Hagi score 2? I was there i didnt realise collina reffed though :-k :-k

That's right Coyle, McGinlay and Green for Bolton.

First home (that I can remember) against Middlesbrough 8th April 1980 - Nowak and Whatmore scored! Was on the Burnden Paddock - think I got sat on the railings. I was 8.

Next game I can recall was at home to Wrexham 10th April 1982 - we won 2-0 and Reid scored a penalty (I drew the goal on the back of my programme!). Went in the Lever End on this occasion.

Then next up was Carlisle United in the League Cup (we won 4-0) in Sept 82. Think I was on a week or 2 later when we lost 3-2 against Oldham as well.

After that my dad would take me swimming at High Street baths (lessons) and then we'd nip onto Burnden for the last 20 mins. This was on a Tuesday but I remember a few matches.

The rot set in when I saw us lose 1-0 at home to Gillingham in April 1984. I didn't stop going after that.

First away match was Turf Moor October 1984. We lost 3-2. Oghani scored twice. Seem to think that one of their goals was a back heel in six yard box.

I don't think my dad was that way inclined - but he took me in their end!!!! Go take it to 'em Smiley Senior!

The only thing I can remember about my first Burnden match was the 3 watt light bulbs under the roof of the Burnden Stand. Did they actually illuminate anywhere? :D

I remember that match it was definately Collina that reffed it. After the match I said that Hagi must have been one of the most talented players ever to have played at Burnden, he scored a brilliant free-kick that night curling it round the wall.

First home match was Wigan at home 6th may 1989, drew 1-1 Storer. Sat on a barrier with my dad, was only 6. First away game was Manure away in the FA cup 26 Jan 1991, remember queing down manny road for ages but looking back I can only dream of the day we will get 10,000 tickets or OT away again

You can always get into OT, there are touts outside the ground every time and if you wait until kick-off time they go for face value, Bolton is not a must go match for munichs.

p.s. Henrick Pedigol I sent you a private message last monday and you haven't read it yet

Can't remember the date or even the year but I remember the match for several reasons

It's was against Fulham who had Bobby Moore, George Best and Rodney Marsh playing for them..... Moore got sent off and all the team walked off.... think we scored late on to win it when the sulkers came back on

Didn't go again then til the 77/78 season..... then had another break from football until 1980..... First away match (I think) was the famous cup match at Notts County when we were about 5-0 down at half time and we had 27 goals disallowed in the second half....

Went on one of the many trains carring Bolton when the train station was over the other side of the road
