athywhite1958 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Virgin again, I have had a virgin email account for many years, around June last year my email was hacked, Virgin sorted it for me by creating a log in to virginmedia via Outlook, today I tried to log in to my emails and can't, tried the Virgin online chat bot and after 50 minutes it couldn't help and gave me a phone number to ring, after 1 hour and 10 minutes on the phone with an advisor he said he would send me a new password by post and I should get it next week, so no emails for a week, anybody have any ideas how to get into my emails or what is the best email provider Quote
Sweep Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I don't know how you can get into your current emails, but you can't really go wrong with a gmail account as far as I'm concerned........although I'm not expert by a long way. @barryk32may be the man to help, he's good at this sort of shit I think Quote

I asked him was he being serious and he said it was company security policy, I asked him to send it to my work email which is a secure government one and he said no, so now I have a week of not being able to access my emails Quote

I thought it was a bit odd but all was legit. Quote

If he cant prove identity sufficiently (and Im not sure how its possible to do on a phone, without a pre-defined set of identity validation questions and responses, which tend to be the domain of financial insttitions rather than service providors), then it must be sent to one of the validated addresses. Anything else would open the company to so many legal problems. Always set up recovery options for accounts like this, using a safe alternative email account, and MFA where available. Quote
