Reebok Great Games

I think it is about time we highlighted superb games at the reebok i feel we have had as many superb performances at the reebok in 10 years than the last 20 years at burnden, we have beaten liverpool a top arsenal side more than once and the semi final win over villa was a great performance by the team, the year we escaped relegation was a superb rollercoaster ride with some fantastic support from the bolton faithful.

I don't know if it had something to do with the way Arsenal played, but those 2 performances stick in my mind as the highest quality football I've seen at the highest level from any Bolton team.

when we played chelsea - i think eidur equalised in the last minute to make it 1-1 - THAT was the best i'd seen of us til that date

i think it was the game when okocha and youri played the 70 yard crossfield 1-2

Too much time on my hands? Yes. :yahoo:

there was also a great match in the league cup in the 01/02 season agaist walsall that ended 4-3 after extra time. i rember steve banks saving a pen in the last few minutes to help stoping the match going to pens

Nishizawa scored :o

i think it was his only goal for us if i remeber rightly

The 1-0 against Spurs when 3 points were so vital in our relegation fight, purely for the way we attacked them for so long without any joy then got the much deserved penalty.

I also think this was the best atmosphere at the Reebok with the much loved "We are the one and only Wanderers chant going for the entire 2nd half"...............think we repeated the same sort of Atmosphere against Blackburn early the next season, only for the Dingles to grab a 96th minute equaliser - seem to think it's still the latest goal in Premiership history!

Nice reading through everyone's positive memories, brought a big smile to my face! :D

We???ve had some great wins, but I can???t think of a single great game.

Saw a good Oasis concert there once though.

Whoever wrote this either knows very little about football or should be banned for wasting bandwidth

This thread has been great to read. There have been some fantastic matches, one of my favourites was the 2-0 beating of the mighty Arsenal.

The win over Arsenal was also one of my favourites.

Abdoulaye Faye was immense that day and turned in one of the best performances in a Wanderers shirt we've seen at the reebok.

for me the 2-2 draw with arsenal, coming from 2-0 down was a noble effort, and have you ever noticed how when they ever show a disshelved Wenger on Sky Sports he is always sat in the Reebok dugout?

west ham 1-0 was good because of the goal and it's signifance

as was 5-2 against Villa, probably the best goal for me at the Reebok from Okocha

but the winner is

2-2 V Leicester, to come from 2-0 down with 9 men was as good as you can get, from deep despair to pure elation in 90 mins, that match was a reet rollercoaster and I doubt we'll experience many like that

You don't actually like football much,do you 'Tash?

I can remember great times at Burnden in the late 50's and early sixties. I can remember good matchday experiences there in 1984 when we were averaging crowds of only 4,000, a pint or two in the King Bill before the game and then a few afterwards. It would have been great if they had redeveloped Burnden but they didn't, they moved to the Reebok. Times move on and things change but one thing remains the same, the team we support so now it is time for Burnden to remain in the memories of those who are fortunate enough to have them and get behind the lads at the Reebok. :)

I remember the game well but was not there!! We were travelling back from a wedding or something and Stuart Hall was covering the game for Radio 5. When they went over for live news of the Rickets goal in the 94th minute, Stuart Hall was going mad - even more balmy then normal!!

At the full time wistle he was on his feet applauding Bolton and for once he seemed lost for words.

Superb memories - and I was not even at the game!!

Villa 5-2, Newcastle 4-3. Palace 5-2 didn't Dean Gordon hit goal of the month against us in that one. Remember my brother watching the second half downstairs with a pint as he was to nervous.

2-2 draw vs Arsenal. Great comeback, Jay Jay taking the mick out of Charlie Dimmock not once but

twice. In fact most of the games against the Gooners have been crackers.

Think our original poster is looking for the perfect game

I thought we were already safe by then?

Seeing as we got relegated the following week at Chelsea - no.

Probably the West Ham match in 2003 for me. With all the hype about our overpaid foreigners undeservedly relegating the Hammers' English starlets it was a sweet sweet win.

Will never tire of watching this.....

the ipswich 4-1 was fun

It was a cracking day when we thrashed Bury also shakers shakers ra ra ra, gooooooooooooooooo shakers.

Arsenal at home in the season 2002/2003, pulling it back from 2-0 down to bring it back to 2 each against at team that were on a role. We indefinitely stopped them from claiming the title from that point. Youri Djorkaeffs equalising goal was quality and his face told a story when it went in. Then the great donkey himself Martin Keown grabbed a dramatic own goal, with the Reebok in Raptures. Great result and helped us remain in the Premier League. :drinks:

That is one of my favourites. Made even better because my dad's mates had travelled up from Ipswich and were sat infront of me. They stayed the weekend and I never shut up about it

Youri's goal made it 1-2 didn't it?
