Biggest claim to fame has to be Bristol rovers at Eastville for a midweek game in the 'bad old days' one cold January night.Bolton hadn't taken a single point away from home all season and Bristol topped the table and hadnt been beaten at home.We took the lead only to be pegged back but won the game with a penalty right in front of the traveling support to sent the 40 or 50 Wanderers fans into raptures and make the trip home much more bearable.

The worst view ever had to be the baseball ground. I was there for the 5th round FA cup tie and couldn't see one half of the pitch or the ball if it went over 15 feet off the ground. Was a grand atmosphere though. Shame Lydiate was so sh??te though and lost us the game.

and the over coach driver going mad ours

went bournmoth on the train iwas about 15 got their 8 in morning got picked up of mini bus of lads who still go went to millwall as well on train good set of lads

I remember that one as one of the papers the next day had a picture of an entire stand down one side empty. <2k there as I recall (have to admit I was living in London at the time so its not quite the Brucie Bonus it could be ).

yip, about 95, took a coachful from leigh, left about 10m and got there just for KO. worst game ever seen. went to a neetclub in that shopping centre and kicked off with a load of scruffy student types, got back at 5am.

I drove the hire car down to that one, the puddles on the motorway were that deep we were slowing down from 70 mph to 30 mph without even touching the brakes.

Probably my best week of watching the whites away,was going to Bounemouth on the Tuesday night - Phil Brown got a late winner. Stayed overnight and ended up in a neetclub full of pissed up Wanderers fans . Then on the following Friday - met at dinner for the trip to Hull City - 14 of us in a Tranny van,bumped into Rioch and the players in a hotel just outside Hull and the great man came over for "a word" Went to that big boozer on the junction ( the Fiveways?) won the game 2-1 - did the obligitary pitch invasions,then went to a village just outside Hull called South Cave and got fcukin bladdered,came back to civilisation on St Georges Rd and had a big team curry. HAPPY DAYS ( 1993?)

I think it was the next pre season(?) we went up to Dunfermline for a friendly,stayed over in Edingburgh and had a fcukin great crack.

Unforgettable, that one! Peter Nicko scored a blinder. This threads doing me ed in. Remebering all the grounds I've followed BWFC to doing back to the 60's. Not botherin, it's plenty. Interested to read some o't lads experiences with called off matches. Remember one at Villa in the 80's where we ended up in a rasta mans club in Brum dancing like bell ends to the likes of Harry J and the Allstars and Prince Buster with about 100 stoned BWFC fans! Happy days.

Aye remember doing the same thing, kipping on Oxford station then some kind sole let us all go and kip in students digs.

 

Remember a bit of a ruck in their end and blagging our way on to the Ribble coach to get back home.

Exeter on the wet Tuesday night, got w??nkered in Torquay before hand but I remember the away end had bushes in it. Also the sailor who ran on the pitch to tw??t the Exeter goalkeeper and ended up getting banjoed

 

Notts County in the cup when we got thumped 6-1, I had just started work and wagged it to go to the match. Went on the train the 1000's of not rights and we had 334 goals disallowed. Also seem to remember the train station was on the otherside of the road however, I may well have dreampt that

The interesting thing about this thread is that it shows how pointless other threads asking why people don't go any more are! Thing is, the latter imply that some sort of sensible logic can be applied to going to football in the first place....and some of the stories in here show just how untrue that is! I mean, where's the sense or logic in Undies and his mob hearing that the away game at Palace is off while still up in Bolton - and then still going anyhow!!! ::::::::::::::

Good - Any ground where we had a small away following and won !!

 

 

Bad - Hartlepool (snowed), Northampton (wind and rain), Watford (3-0 up, lost 4-3)

Torquay (lost 2-0 and phil neal got sacked)

 

 

Ugly - Bristol Rovers (in bath - worst trouble I have seen), Stoke old ground (well shady), Everton.

Watford (3-0 up, lost 4-3)

went to that game myself think it was the first game we had won away for a long time, i think the penalty was late on in the game, and we celebrated like we won the world cup.

that was one depressing day, a week after that game i found out the lad who sat near us since the reebok opened threw himself of the railway bridge in bolton after coming back from the match.

Remember the Eastville one. Didn't go like, but it was in the times of not knowing how Bolton had gone on until you picked up the morning paper. The sweaty palms as you grabbed if from the back of the door, quickly opened up the back page to see the scores on the inside back cover (things have changed). Bottom right - Tuesday nights results. Bristol Rovers 1, Bolton 2. FANTASTIC!

 

Also did the 0-0 at Oxford as well. It rained, snowed, hailed and did everything else inbetween. Huge accident on the M6. Took us about 8 hours to get there. Missed the first 10 minutes. Ended up having a kebab in Bicester after the game.

 

And also did the 0-0 at Norwich as well. What a drab game that one was. It was a toss-up between that or Chelsea away in the league. Thought we might get something at Norwich so we opted for that. The Chelsea game we lost 3-2 but Curcic scored his wonder goal. Decisions, decisions, eh?

 

Bournemouth on the Tuesday before Hull was superb. Also remember seeing us lose there a couple of times - always a good trip out - usually stayed over night and had a wander on the beach during the day.

 

Torquay was another classic away game - last away of the season - lost 2-1. Half the Bolton fans stayed in the pub. The other half left before half time. I was in the other half (yep, that's three halves!!!) who stuck it out until the bitter end. Great day/night though. Especially as United lost the league at Anfield on the Sunday*.

 

*In the days when United were worth hating.
