Tal Ben Haim

Bolton seem likely to lose Tal Ben Haim for ??3.5m to Spurs, who want to plug the gap in the squad that will be left if Anthony Gardner goes to West Ham.

Chelsea are baulking at Bolton's asking price for Ben Haim, but Portsmouth are also interested in the versatile Israel international defender.

Jesus there's some pettiness here.

He's been a top servant to the club for 3 years, usually played very well even when out of position and some people want to hang him.

If Chelsea came calling and offered 5 times my salary I just might consider it.

I'm pretty gutted that he's going but that's life.

Correct get a new partnership forming with meite for next season.

I think he's our best defender for a start.

What if Meite and/or Faye got injured? We'd be shafted if we didn't play Ben Haim.

If he helps us get Europe there will be a big point in playing him.

I agree with jayjayoghani. He is our best defender and it would seem stupid to leave him out of the team. IMO we should play our strongest team possible in every league game and for me that includes Ben Haim. I would prefer to see our team win matches and be high in the league and hopefully qualify for europe, rather than our team losing matches because of a weak defence just because somebody wants to move on.

If he is dropped and we start to lose matches then I can guarantee there will be people on here complaining, you can't have it both ways.

since it has become apparent that he is leaving he has been very iffy. no point playing him if he doesnt want to be at the wanderers. play fojut give him his chance if we miss out on europe so be it. we dont need europe. we have been there once and suffered the season after.

I agree. Europe is good for the fans. But for the club its shit. We dont get big enough gates to make money. It will cost more to open the stadium. And channel 5 must be the worst channel on T.V. The only way to make a bit of coin is to win it and i can't see that happening.

I'm not sure many on here would agree with you E. I for one would prefer to play a player that will not sign a contract for 5 months and hopefully get Europe, than being stubborn and keeping him out of the team for 5 months and missing out on Europe.

However I think he will go this month and then we won't have the option.

what i was really getting at is that people think we are destined to be in europe. it is not a definate by any stretch of the imagination. if we play him and dont qualify will people not say we should of let him rot? why would we not get in europe with fojut playing in place of ben haim? he has played out of position all season so what difference will it make

Ben Haim has played at full back for most of the season and at the moment he is playing better than both of them. If we left him out then we would already have to play 2 players that are worse than him. If you then want to bring in Fojut who has no 1st team experience and would be a complete gamble then you will be playing 3 worse players than him. IMO for the sake of 5 months the benefits it will bring by playing him completely out way the fact that he has decided to move on at the end of the season.

Personally I want to see loyalty from our players - but by loyalty I mean giving their all while they are being paid to do so by us. If he gets to the end of his contract and leaves then so be it - but if before then, while being paid by us, he gives anything less than his best then sod him. The first tackle he shirks with an eye to the imminent move, Sam should be on there and bust his leg in three places for him.

i don't get why you want a player who will not give his all for the white shirt playing in the team

For me I agree, TBH is our best defender...

...but oddly Meite & Faye make a better centre back partnership than a pairing that features TBH

edit: I blame it all on the jinx of the BWFC official calendar! Bruno was Mr December 2006 and guess who is Mr January 2007!! All I can say is watch out for some bad news regarding Anelka in February!

I'm gonna chuck bacon at him & no balls

Will he play tomorrow on the strength that Faye misses the game due to 5 bookings?

Could be TBH swan song, so get the pies ready to launch!

He will play 2moz, and i agree he will need to be giving his all to secure a move away (Hes never been happy since that newspaper report that he didnt like the drinking culture). But against Newc and Portsmouth he didnt seem to fancy a couple of 50-50s!! One thing hes got to realise if he plays well now then he wont get any stick but the 1st missed tackle or bad pass and he will kop it. We should play him till he leaves at right back!!(apart from against cideh).

Will be dissapointing to see him leave but these big club searchers have been replaced before and will again. Big Sam as never let us down before.

i don't get why you want a player who will not give his all for the white shirt playing in the team

I don't see why he shouldn't still try even if he does make his mind up to leave at the end of the season. Just because somebody is leaving it doesn't mean they will not try, there are still win bonuses etc to be collected are there not?

Also, he would be better at RB than Nicky Hunt in my opinion, and would rather he played there than Mr Hunt

Aye but there are also fat contracts to be missed out on if he breaks his leg now.

beat me to it

Having seen the transfer gossip this morning I think I now know the real reason for him wanting out. It appears ben Haim and his mate are planning on setting up a kibbutz down on the south coast.

HARRY REDKNAPP hopes to make West Ham???s Yossi Benayoun his next Portsmouth signing.

The Israeli midfielder, 26, has struggled this season and wants out of Upton Park.

He is likely to move to Pompey, initially on a six-month loan deal.

what really annoys me is that some players just have no loyalty to the clubs that have made them what they are.bolton brought ben haim from isreal when no other clubs seemed to have the guts and we gave him a platform to perform in the best league in the world with alot better facilities than he has ever been used to and this is the way he repays us.what i must say is that while we still pay his wages he should still play and hopefully get us into europe but what grates me is that ben haim would not be were he is today if it wasn't for big sam and bolton wanderers.

What a load of crap, if you work at a company/business and do really well, and then a competitor comes along and offers you 2 or 3 times the wage, would you stay put out of loyalty to your current employer because they took you on and trained you etc...............would you hell.

He has given good service to the club, and if he wants to better himself by going to one of the biggest clubs in the world (if it is Chelsea) then fair play to him

I don't know what job you do Stelios but let's say you are a bus driver. Arriva buses give you a job and train you up and you become the best driver in the country and do the driving on all of Arriva's prestige routes. Stagecoach then come along and offer you a job with them for quite a bit more money. Would you stay loyal to Arriva and turn Stagecoach down. Would you hell, you would join Stagecoach.

I've said it before and I'll say it again the only people who show loyalty in football are the fans. We will still be here when Anelka et al have gone.

I think you put that a bit better than I did :p
