Tal Ben Haim

Bolton seem likely to lose Tal Ben Haim for ??3.5m to Spurs, who want to plug the gap in the squad that will be left if Anthony Gardner goes to West Ham.

Chelsea are baulking at Bolton's asking price for Ben Haim, but Portsmouth are also interested in the versatile Israel international defender.

he was fookin appalling against portsmouth, pulled out of 3 or 4 challenges in the 1st 30mins and against liverpool, he was all over the bloody place...

if he doesnt want to play for bwfc then he shouldnt be playing for bwfc...

Now then...

Brixton called me on the day of the game to see if I would play, but I'd already agreed to play elsewhere.

Anyway I'm a soldier of fortune and they offered a greater "pay as you play" deal.

He was quite often out of position versus Pompey, but he was far from our worst player at Anfield.

The squad is thin enough as it is without dropping one of our best players; I guarantee his Liverpool performance would not be an indication of his future games, whether we sell him or not.

Sell and replace.

or

Play him.

If you lot had asked me first I would've played.

It's 1st come, 1st served and I'd already told a mate I'd play for 'em. That's fair enough isn't it? :unknw:

dont beleive we have to play him to be honest. in an ideal situation i'd have him in for hunt now, with meite, faye and gardner.

but if he's being an arse, im quite happy to let the lesser of two evils allow hunt to play...

Agreed he had a bad game against Portsmouth.

Thought we defended well against Liverpool until the two superbly taken goals. There's only so much pressure a defence can take against a quality team and our lack of decent fully fit midfielders told. None of them were in the game.

Ok so you think he's had a questionable game or two, why does that mean he's "being an arse"?

If it's not signing a contract, then it's his right and Bolton should have tied him up earlier.

And I'd still play him over Hunt.

With Hunt, Meite, Faye and Gardner playing, what happens when there's an injury / suspension? If you bring Tal in then do you think his motivation is like, after he's been dropped for not signing a contract? Any other options? Pederson?, Fojut?, Campo? Speed? All leave us worse off.

If Ben Haim wishes to leave Bolton, it is in his own interest to perform well to attract potential buyers.

not really

he could sign a pre-contract today, i think?

only for clubs outside the prem i think.

could be right

but the point stands that he could well have agreed a deal already

get rid of Tal to chelski for ??5mil then bring in Oguchi Onyewu for ??2.5 bargain!!

Plus he's another big black man to play at centre half!

I'd keep him till the end of season and then let him go. If he goes to chelsea he'll just get swamped in an already overcrowed squad and we probally wont see him play much.

PG did say that they thought he had been 'tapped' up by tot and whu but they wern't sure...

Im not worried Sam tends to make good defencive signings. keep the faith... 8)

He would be the first decent player we have lost since Ricketts, and it is no coincidence that this period has seen us have tremendous success. Once you start selling your best players it is a slippery slope.

We need to offer the maximum we can and try and keep him. If we do qualify for Europe we may be better a proposition to him in the summer, particularly if it is the CL, so worth keeping him in this TW. If we could keep him it would have the effect of putting off the bigger clubs trying to nab our best palyers as we would have proved we are not an easy proposition to deal with.

You only have to look at Charlton for a club who has succumbed to interest from richer clubs (Scott Parker).

Having said all that, it is quite remarkable that we haven't had the richer clubs sniffing around before, and if and when they do, it will be very hard for us to resist, even though we did well to keep Stelios from City and Liverpool. This was one of the benefits of signing older players, they do not interest the bigger clubs.

if he plays tomorrow, he wont be going no where.

A bold statement that, Dolly.

I did say Rumour's --- it was broadcasted on Tower FM just before Christmas and in " The Sun " stating he wanted to stay with Wanderer's, and signed a new contract. Chelsea had shown interest but snubbed 3.5 Million for him !

Ermm and campo is staying to the end of his 18 month's up !!

Hello! Planet Earth to Dolly. I was commenting on all your posts suddenly being in bold type. Are you shouting?

From Skysports...

Sam Allardyce has revealed that West Ham have become the first club to officially register their interest in Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim.

The struggling Hammers have contacted The Reebok Stadium regarding the availability of the defender who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Whilst The Trotters are doing their utmost to convince Ben Haim that his future is best served by staying at the club, a transfer battle for his signature looks set to ensue now Alan Curbishley has made his move.

The London side are in need of reinforcements in order to steer clear of the relegation zone and Allardyce has now confirmed that he has received an enquiry from Upton Park regarding his star defender.

"We've had an enquiry from West Ham," Allardyce told the Bolton News. "But that's all."

Ben Haim has also been linked with Chelsea and Portsmouth after refusing to commit his future to Bolton, but Allardyce is determined to try and keep hold of the former Maccabi Tel Aviv star.

Indeed, the Trotters boss is currently focused on strengthening his squad rather than losing a key element of his defence.

"The last thing we want is somebody going out," Allardyce added.

"If we can get one or more in, that would be fantastic. In the position we are in, we don't want to get too distracted by all the media speculation that revolves around the January transfer window and focus on our big game against Manchester City."

Allardyce has also denied that Ben Haim missed the FA Cup win over Doncaster to prevent him becoming cup tied.

Can't see him going to the spammers!
