Tal Ben Haim

Bolton seem likely to lose Tal Ben Haim for ??3.5m to Spurs, who want to plug the gap in the squad that will be left if Anthony Gardner goes to West Ham.

Chelsea are baulking at Bolton's asking price for Ben Haim, but Portsmouth are also interested in the versatile Israel international defender.

From Skysports...

Allardyce has also denied that Ben Haim missed the FA Cup win over Doncaster to prevent him becoming cup tied.

Doesn't anyone actually believe that last comment?

Im guessing he's revealing the West Ham contact to flush out any deals. Hopefully we'll keep him until the end of the season by which time Chelsea might not need to sign him anymore and West Ham will have been relegated (by us (again)). But if he is going to go in this window we might aswell get it over and done with now.

Im still not sure why he's so keen to leave. We'll obviously offer him top dollar now. I can understand him considering Chelsea if he believes he can make enough of an impact to start games (maybe as their long term right back) but Pompey, West Ham, Spurs etc... Why? He's got it good here.

doubt he'll go to a "smaller" club than us

he thinks he's the best player in the world and will hold out for chelsea, liverpool etc

so if they don't come in for him now, he'll go there for free in the summer

Why not?

If you believe that TBH was rested to avoid being cup-tied, does that same logic apply to the rest who missed the game?

We'll obviously offer him top dollar now.

It may be that our "top dollar" is a lot lower than that other clubs are willing to offer. If he does go to West Ham, then it clearly is just for money.

Rumour doing the rounds down here are that he's coming to us + ??4m and you're getting NRC.

Probably bollocks but thought it may be of interest.

Great deal on both accounts.

(1) ??4m for a player out of contract in the summer is silly money

(2) I have never rated NRC and would not want him if offered to us free of charge

The rumour was ??4m to us.

??4m plus TBH for Nigel Real-Cokehead. Get a grip FFS!

now thats funny!

Considering TBH is worth nothing due to his contract being at an end, I'd say you were getting him cheap considering Arsenal bid ??10m for him on the last transfer deadline day.

You can have 2p and a packet of walkers crisps. We keep TBH.

What's happened to Reo-Coker? Thought he was cracking for Wimbledon, then he was getting rave reviews for you lot, only for it to go very sour, very quickly...

He got Billy Big Boots syndrome?

Haim will only go if we have a replacement lined up. Our squad and particularly defence is thin enough as it is.

Also, no disrespect, but West Ham aren't a top drawer attraction; as already stated someone with an ego like our Taliban will only leave us for top 4 unless the wages are daft.

i agree let him stay till end of season then if he wants to go then get rid. least we'll be in europe!!

if we are offered ??3/4 m for hiam and he will not sign a new contract we should sell him.

he being in the team would not make us into a champions league team and the uefa cup does not generate ??4m in income.

just make sure the deal goes through in time for us to get another player in.

The rumour was ??4m to us.

Last season he was superb. Then we got the offer from Arsenal but we turned it down flat without consulting NRC. Since then he has played with no effort or desire. Hence his form has been woeful. Majority of WHU fans will be glad to see the back of him.

He has undoubted ability and an engine to match but he isn't motivated at all at the moment. Rightly or wrongly he was on the midfielder on the standby list for England during the last World Cup.

BTW I wasn't saying that TBH was coming to us, like you say, at this moment in time why would he? All I was saying was that was the rumour down here.

He'll be fcuked off at hardly ever playing centre back. Allardyce was interviewed and he said he doesnt like playing in any other position

Just read this in the (Evening) News... Anyone read the source interview anywhere?

Reports over the weekend that are understood to have originated in Israel, claim the player himself has made a "come and get me" plea to Chelsea. He is quoted as saying: "My dream is to play for one of the really big clubs and win trophies and I really believe it will happen.

"I could cope with it because I never feel stress.

"The thought of playing at the highest level does not faze me and I can't even spell the word fear."

Wanderers officials are likely to ask Ben Haim to explain certain comments which appeared to be disparaging towards the club.

No-one's got on his back yet but he needs to keep his mouth shut. Whats he got to complain about? <_< Is this his way of trying to force a transfer in the window?

Looks like the educational system in Israel is as bad as it is here

I've just got this from a very good source who speaks to TBH quite often it's what we all know but from the horses mouth so to speak , just before christmas he extended his rent aggrement on his home till the end of MAY, and has no real desire to leave bolton at the moment and is enjoying his football, if the club are offered a very substantial amount he's not sure what the future holds but won't jump at the chance to move to a club unless it's one of the so called big 4, he also said theres nothing to make him want to leave if the contract offer is the right one.

I have always rated Ben Haim and think he is one of the best around at the moment. However if he won't accept a contract then IMO then if a decent offer comes in (??3/4m) then we should let him go.

Also I rate Nigel Reo Coker and think that just because he hasn't played well this season it doesn't mean that he is a bad player, (Kevin Nolan is the same). It could be a dip in form, complacency or just the fact that he is playing in a poor team. Whatever it is a player does not suddenley go from a very good player, to a very bad player in half a season. Also I think he would fit in well with our system and would learn a lot from the likes of Campo, he would also be very good cover for when Speedo decides to finish, which may be the end of the season. If we could do a reasonable deal which saw Ben Haim go to WHU and Reo Coker to come to us then I would be very happy. (As long as we have enough time left in the window to bring in a replacement centre back as it would leave us very short.)

Reo Coker could turn out to be the next Pele, and it wouldn't bother me right now if your lot or any other club got him for a tenner. His attitude stinks, and has done ever since Arsenal's bid was turned down in the Summer.

However his agent wants to rewrite the last few months, his form has dipped a hell of a lot this season, and he was hardly the complete player to begin with. Noticeably though he did seem to raise his game against Arsenal and Man Utd - I wonder why?

On his day, he runs his heart out, and can have a big influence on games, but on others it's more headless chicken stuff and some of his passing makes me wonder why Arsenal came in in the first place.

He's either seriously overated, or has a huge attitude problem, especially when you consider he's been playing as the club's captain.

Either way, he's publically stated through his idiot agent, that he see's himself at one of the big 4, so if he goes anywhere else, you'll be getting someone running their heart out or having a 4 month sulk, depending on his mood.
