It all depends on what level of ticket you bought. If, as most of us do, you took the cheapest option, you have no chance to change.

One of the reasons that online name canges can't be made, and that the prevailing flight price is charged, is to stop people from block booking cheap flight offers, then phoning round to get their mates sorted.

I've only used it a couple of times, but you quite often also by-pass the automated switchboards as well
