But so are Sunderland, Boro, Wigan, Fulham, Reading etc etc.

2 days left, reserve judgement. I am sure Megson wanted a striker in by now, it aint happened. Hold your breath it will come

There is no way any good manager/board would of let their only goal scorer go without having a replacement, they just wanted the cash.

And out of the above mentioned teams apart from Fulham, we are by far the worse

its only bloody january its not like we are cut adrift in the bottom three. yes we should be worried but we are one of 6 teams in a similar situation at the moment. we have been in deeper trouble than this in the past and pulled thru so at the moment i personaly am not going to lose any sleep over it

Can't disagree with you there, Special. Desperate for points, home to the out-of-form 2nd from bottom ...... one attacking player on the pitch. Criminal.

Give the players their due - the effort (and some skill) was there, but football with no goalscorers ? Nah, it won't catch on in a million years.

<_<

But none of those clubs have finished in the top 8 for the last three years or qualified for europe, so in relative terms we may not be the worst of this bunch? but we have certainly fallen the furthest so I think any right minded person has a right to be worried and annoyed at how the club is run.

It is only the rose tinted spectacle brigade that prop up the decisions made by the heirachy at the club and at times it is akin to Vichy France in allowing your own club to be raped by the money men.

i can't believe theres so many doom n gloomopinions on here from folk who aint even watched the game

Deep down we all knew Anelka wasn't going to stay if top 4 fancied him. I'd rather we didnt waste the cash on a panic striker. ?12 for Alves - Boro ??!!

he was contracted to us, so had no choice to stay if forced to do so, Chelsea were sniffing in November so thats plenty of time to shop around, then Jan 1 get your man then let Anelka go

No surprise from me, it what I expected, I hoped we could get one but as you said it had 0-0 written all over it.

so why is it when we go away and play for a draw do we get dicked by teams like sunderland and everton????

why, because they go for the kill against a tgeam in poor form which is what we should of done tonight

Fact is we can't win away games for toffee so you bank on your home games especially against teams like Fulham!! We are in the shiiiit!

I agree were in the shite, but I cant ever remember routeinely beating the lower teams in this League at home. Where we have done well in the past is by picking up surprise wins away at places like City Villa and Everton.

You dont win any games if you dont have a decent effort on target. Both teams didnt have the players to do that tonight.

both teams didnt have any pace whatsoever up front.

But if there're not around then who do you get? You just end up replacing quality for mediocre (e.g. alves) at the same rate.

There's no way were keeping Anelka once Chelsea make the offer.

Take the money & strengthen the defence.

I'm sure we'll get someone in before the deadline, even if on loan.

I really don't think Striker is the problem.

Why play McCan @ home against that shite?

Play Stelios on the right & play either Campo or Guthrie in the middle to create the chances.

If Stelios injured - play Campo instead of McCann......

The most baffling thing for me, was that we didn't look like we particularly wanted to win the game. In the first half we were far to negative against a team that is second bottom in the table, and has not won away from home in well over a year.

In the second half we seemed to push Taylor on more, and began to look more dangerous, only to take him off

The Guthrie substitution was more understandable for me, as the young lad, almost tries a bit too hard, and it just wasn't coming off for him today. Those Gerrard type two footed lunges looked like they were going to land him in trouble.

Where was Stelios?? Injured I presume. And I thought JO'B was having one of his better games so I presume that was an injury as well.

Firmly are gone are the days of the 4-5-1 system that could break into a 4-3-3 when we had the ball. We get the ball now and firmly remain at 4-5-1.

How I long for some of the "negative" tactics FSA used to play, because for me, we're a lot more negative now.

EXACTLTY! You fooking keep hold of Anelka! He was contracted for another 4 years after this so if he wanted to go in the summer we would still have gotten 15mill for him then, maybe more!

And why exactly? Just because one of the big four bids for your players it doesnt mean you HAVE to sell!
