YATESY Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 This has happened every summer for about the last 5 years, we get linked with every bloody keeper going. Earlier this week it was the lad from Crewe and now: Bolton and Aston Villa want Spurs keeper Paul Robinson - Star FFS how many keepers does the press think we need. We had 5 on last seasons first team squad photo!
markh2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 It's from the Star so I don't really beleive a word of it. Think Robinson is more likely to go to Villa or Boro.
tomy taylor Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 here's another one if anyone's interested... http://sport.setanta.com/en/Sport/News/Foo...ms-Prem-offers/
NZtrotter Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Thinking about it, Big Sam should of flogged Jussi off last season after signing Ali, he obviously knew how good Ali was, and Jussi would of been worth a few million. Bad business that.
cbwfcd Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) He would have to play 4th fiddle to Al habsi, walker and that other lad. Edited May 23, 2008 by cbwfcd

Zico Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 from the Guardian, quite funny, and a good point well made "The Mill never was one for the old maths. It's always getting its x mixed up with its y, on one famous occasion actually changing sex by accident. Or that's what this gossip column told HR after it was caught hanging around outside (inside) the women's toilets (again). But it could still out-math Gary Megson, who's noticed that Juande Ramos is going to buy Lyon keeper Gregory Coupet as a ?2.5m replacement for Paul Robinson. Which would mean that Robinson is worse than Coupet, right? Which means Robinson should be worth less than Coupet, right? Wrong. Gary is willing to stump up ?5m for the Spurs keeper. And so is Martin O'Neill."

Horwich Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Even with extra subs I dont see why we would put 2 on the bench!
Theboybell Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Even with extra subs I dont see why we would put 2 on the bench! Megson logic is why
passmosster Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Megson logic is why No the other keepers were the previous managers' signings. I just can't understand why with a limited budget, he would stump up ?5m for a keeper when Al Habsi has been excellent in virtually all games this season. I would play him ahead of Robinson any day of the week. Megson is just a silly bugger on this my/their players business. "Those whom the Gods would destroy, they first make mad".
cbwfcd Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Just thinking about it is there any chance this has been leaked in order to get jussi to sign.
Zico Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 Just thinking about it is there any chance this has been leaked in order to get jussi to sign. possibly if Jussi is willing to open talks and willing to stay, we have no need to spunk ?5M on Paul Robinson wonder how Al Habsi feels about all this sooner or later he'll want to be no.1
enzo gambaro Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) I imagine Jussi and Al Habsi are laughing their cocks off as much as I am at the suggestion an England goalkeeper would sign for Bolton. Edited May 23, 2008 by enzo gambaro
Sweep Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 wonder how Al Habsi feels about all this sooner or later he'll want to be no.1 I would have thought that Al Habsi would already expect to be no.1 for the new season, if not, then he'll be wanting away
Churchill Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) FWIW,in all honesty i think both Ali and Jussi are better than Robinson! Edited May 23, 2008 by tonygreen1981
scottgreen Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) Another story about another keeper we are allegedly after........ http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11672_3601025,00.html Paris Saint Germain goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo has been contacted by five clubs in Britain over a possible move. Alonzo claims to have been approached by Premier League club Bolton, who are known to be on the lookout for a new shot-stopper. Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff and Derby have also held talks with Alonzo, while Scottish Premier League side Hearts are interested as well. The 35-year-old has other options in France and he admits there is a chance he could leave PSG this summer. Alonzo is normally second choice to Mickael Landreau at PSG but he is expected to play in the Coupe de France final on Saturday and is hoping to impress any onlookers. "Frankly, for a few weeks, my phone has never stopped ringing," he told L'Equipe. "Clubs' representatives will be at Stade de France. "I would not dislike an experience abroad, above all in England or Scotland. "I already had first contacts which were more or less serious with Derby, Bolton and Cardiff, but also Queens Park Rangers and Heart of Midlothian. "In France I have four clear propositions. I am listening so far." Edited May 23, 2008 by scottgreen

Never seen him play, but at 35 he is no more than a short term option. Surely we can do better than what the Championship clubs are looking at. Bring back Peter Shilton.......
