Hull City Away Fans

Exeter brought 47 for a league game in 90/91,Swansea brought 47 for a league game in 91/92.

Both were midweek matches.

There is likely to be lower than that.

was it exeter when andy walker saluted the empty embankment?

one of those hull followings was the season of THE hull away game, wasn't it

i guess we had more at the away game than the home one

Yes yes yes.

I've been trying for years to remember the opposition for that game. Of all the things he did that sticks in my memory above all else.

I once went to a night match years back at Rochdale when they played Exeter. I stood in the away end with my mate and we doubled (I sh?t you not) the away following that night.
the Rochdale equivalent of george the statto has always thought that there were 4 Exeter fans at Spotland that night. I think you should write to the club so that he can adjust his records.

nah, twas a night match, georgie

sure of it

The Stoke programme after Hull said we had 700 at Bournemouth and "more than" 3,700 at Hull.

There were 3,778 Bolton fans on at home to Hull.

I think it was light when he saluted the Embankment which would be his goal the following season.

do we reckon thats gonna be the only time ever we've had more away than at home?

rovers when we got promoted?

similarly wrexham?

dunno, just guessing

I'm fairly certain it was a winter 3pm kick off but dark(ish) by the time he scored....

Been posted a while ago on here, but one match V Hull City, Bolton fans had a boycott, stayed in the W&H, even some Hull fans stopped in the pub.

Rovers is deffo a possibility - 18k for the home game and there was bound to be 3k of them. Christ knows how many at the away :yahoo: :good:

Went to a Stockport v Torquay match on a friday night around the time we played them at Wembley

I counted 3 (three) Torquay fans on the open Away Stockport terrace

(there may heve been more but i cant count past three)

And the 3 probably included me and you when we used to go in the away end, when Bolton

weren't playing.

The stewards always did have a look of bemusement when we trotted into the away end

for the upteenth time in a season !!

zozzy.....2+2 = ?

you will never make the clique.

remember newport county not fetching many up the season they were relegated out of the league,

possibly single figures.

Was always difficult to get an accurate count at Burnden due to the darkness of the Burnden Stand seating area - even on the sunniest days it was pitch black up there.

hmmm...wonder what the highest and lowest official away followings at Reebok and/or Burnden have been? Highest I've seen was the Filth at Reebok in 79-80 - must have been 15k of the bastards.

Are you not mixing this up with the game against the scum in the second division? surely the 79/80 was the xmas 3 0 battering

last match at burnden - charlton only had the portakabin stand - how many did that hold?/

To be fair to Zozzy, two Exeter fans plus two (presumably) Bolton fans still equals two Exeter fans.

being fair to zozzy is not allowed he is an outcast.

no that was the year before, Dec 78.

This was April 1980, lost 3-1 in front of 32k - the only >30k crowd of that season at Burnden and presumably the last time we'll ever have >30k for a home game. Can't remember but we were probably just about relegated by then anyhow. Next home game was Boro, just 10k there

not quite the same but the 8000 we took to Anfield in 93 was probably higher than our average gate for that season

Hey ya.

Hull's last 2 away followings at Bolton in the league

91/92 336

92/93 358

We got more from Hartlepool both seasons.

It'll be nice to see a decent following from them.

I remember playing them one year at Burnden when they were gash the railings were up, it was pissing down, and there were 12 of them stood on the embankment. So if it was one of those two years, there were a lot hiding in the burnden stand visitor bit, or that figure includes the players and officials too

Blimey, you're right - it was the very next day we played Boro

A week later home to Coventry we had just 8995 on....was that the brown strip day I wonder??

I think the brown strip day was the first year we got promoted, 1978, drew 0-0. Remember the Paddock pishing themselves laughing when Cov came out.

Going back to one of your earlier posts re large followings at Burnden, Sunderland in 1975 filled the

Embankment with 42000 on, was in the Lever End that day and it looked from where I was that it was just a mass of red and white.

Newcastle also filled it in the same season in the Cup with 46000 on, was in the Manny Road South by the dug outs stood on a BBC camera scaffold.

Supermac told me to feck off when I asked him for his autograph.

For the League Cup semi against Everton, the next season there were 50000 on. The Everton fans were in the larger side of the

Embankment that day and I think iirc that the capacity for that part was about 9000, cant believe that there were 41000 Bolton fans on that night.

I would hazard a guess that all 3 of the above clubs would have had more than 15K on.
