Sluffy Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 For no reason in particular some Bolton Trivia. Did you know that - 1 - Three French Olympians have played for Bolton? Martin Djetou, Florent Laville and Vincent Candela were in the 1996 football competition at Atlanta - JJ Okocha playing for Nigeria was there too! http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/c...ummer/1996/FTB/ 2 - That Jim (Seamus) McDonagh was playing in goal for us when he scored! (on the 15th January 1983 versus Burnley (H), Division 2) 3 - That Bolton holds the record of the largest difference between the number of letters (twelve) in the surnames of two players in a Premier League substitution! This occurred on the 31st January, 2004 when Stelios Giannakopoulos was substituted after 16 minutes by Ibrahim Ba in the away match at Charlton (which we won 1-2) The team that day was - Bolton: Jaaskelainen ,Hunt ,Thome ,N'Gotty ,Barness ,Giannakopoulos (Ba ,16 ) ,Campo ,Frandsen ,Nolan ,Davies (Javi Moreno ,69 ) ,Pedersen (Charlton ,88) Subs not used Vaz Te,Poole, http://www.soccerbase.com/results3.sd?gameid=413008

NZtrotter Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 I remember the Mcdonagh goal, funny thing was, I think he hit the crossbar about 10 mins before he scored, the Burnley keeper must of been a right dumb bugger.

Guest Biff Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) Has Jussi ever scored for us whilst in goal? im sure i can remember him gettin a header, im most probably mistaken though An own goal for Liverpool last season. McDonagh was fortunate that he had a following wind when he scored. He had gone close with an earlier kick from his hands and that encouraged him to keep trying to score.
