Bolton nobbled by Cobblers

or

Megson kicked by Cobblers

I think the favourite has to be

Clueless overpaid Premiership cnuts fooking spanked by lower league nonentities.

I am *really* looking forward to going to work tomorrow

And get who in? By all accounts, he put a decent side out tonight, they didn't play well & Northampton raised their game.

Name calling? I thought better of you! :nea:

We might win the Pisscan Cup! Do you reckon that'll get us automatic entry into UEFA or do we need to go through the preliminary rounds? :D

The thing is - he put out a decent side capable of winning the tie, but he couldn't get a performace out of them. Like last January against Sheffield United. There's a serious problem in there somewhere, and I can't just blame the players. Tonight was largely shambolic until late on.

Helguson,Mccann and shittu were worst than awful, fcuking shite,

when that fcuker (Mccann)give the ball away for there second goal he

just jogged back never made the effort to try and win it back,

i am very disappointed at the above three player's.

Gardner played well mind yer.

I thought we played quite well until they got the penalty.

ok they were 1 on 1 in the first minute, but we hit the post and their goalie made

a few good saves.

Do agree though, that team should be capable of beating any lower league team.

(although how many teams said that against us in the cups down the years ?)

When all's said and done, we've had done to us exactly what we did to:

Liverpool

Arsenal

Everton

Villa

Spurs

West Ham

Sure there may be one or two I've forgot!

When we were down in the 2nd and 3rd tier of the league, these games became a chance for a small club to pit their wits against top-league opponents. We have,, in the past, raised our game against bigger opposition than most others.

Now the tables have been turned. We are the big boys that the lower league opposition want to beat. We are the team that other lower league teams will raise their game for.

In beating us, Northampton Town's supporters will be saying exactly what we were saying all those years ago: "If we can play like that against <insert Prem team name> why the f?ck can't we play like that against <insert lower league team name>? It will be frustrating for them to be beating us on our own ground and then losing to equals as it was for us.

Plus, it's only a game. It really doesn't matter in the scheme of things.

That's a staggering statement of the bleedin' obvious, MickD. =D>

Trouble is, this website exists for people to get excited about football in general and the Wanderers in particular. Else they'd be somewhere else to agonise about global warming, resurrection of the Cold War, life & death ....

I do realise that. I also realise that you have nothing to say about the rest of the post, all of which is also fairly obvious for those of us around in the days of "White Hot" and "White Hot 2", and choose instead to have a go at just the last couple of sentences which serve to merely highlight the importance of a defeat against lower league opponents.
