I was thinking exactly the same thing. Especially since the stewards at Arsenal were throwing people out for standing up when singing last season. No one on MOTD mentioned it which isn't surprising since it's probably several decades since any of them actually paid to get into a game.

Was at QPR on Tuesday and some lads managed to get beers to their seats. Maybe 10 mins later they were thrown out and maybe banned, I don't know. Pretty damning evidence in the pic above though!

Why is it that you can drink alcohol for about 6 hours, sat in your seat, at any cricket game, but you cant do the same for 2 hours at a football game?

On the whole football fans are just aswell behaved as their cricket counterparts.

OK, so i was wrong with that one, but...

 

It was in a time when drinking wasn't allowed in the ground, so most got pissed before the match. In todays all-seater, family orienated football grounds, with alcohol available under the stands, the mentality is different, and while there will allways be idiots, on the whole, football is much safer these days, indeed, almost sterile.

I don't think it's correct to call folk who involve themselves in fv "meatheads".

I wouldn't categorize them & unless you feel you are qualified to make a judgement based on personal experience of an incident, it's probably for the best you don't.

I have plenty of experience of FV, i was in the Alma INN when it was attacked by Shef UTD fans, i was also at the Swansea away league game when loads of Bolton fans were attacked, the game at Burnden Park when ManUTD fans broke open a bottle bank on the car park of what is now/was Equipp (opp Halfords) and running bottle fights broke out, etc, etc, need i go on?

 

Infact i went to virtually every home and away game, from 1982 until 2006 when my Dad died, so yeah, i have seen/been involved in Football violence for many years.
