Sluffy,

Whilst you're at it: who really owns the Sinai Peninsula?

Egypt.

Sinai is land to the east of the River Nile.

It (along with Egypt) was conquered by the Turks and became part of their empire.

The French during Napoleons time attacked Egypt and (in very simple terms) the British helped Egypt to beat the French - but then they (over a number of years) sort of took power themselves as they helped the Egyptians to ultimately take power of Egypt from the Turks.

The British sort of had a 'puppet' Egyptian Government in power - but we pulled the strings - until the start of the World War 2 - when the Egyptians thought the Germans would win and they would become free of us at last.

Well of course we won but by then we had lost most of our power over Egypt

Anyway back to the story - whilst under British influence the Turks who were afraid of our power gave back Sainai to the Egyptians.

It remained with the Egyptians until they attacked Israel in 1967 - and lost. Israel took Sinai and only give it back leaving in 1982.

Sainai is now part of Egyptian territory again.

fook them, I am right behind the Israeli's, good on them for standing up to the lawless Arab scum.

It is a tough one to know who is right here.

The Palestinians (Arabs as you call them) would say that they are fighting to get their land back that - until the western powers (many of whose leaders or power brokers had Jewish connections) decided to create Israel right where they were living and had lived for 2,000 years!!!

However on the other hand Israel can say that they are protecting its people from attack - who have now been living there for over 60 years!

In truth the people fighting on both sides are fighting a conflict that as being going on before they were born!

Look at it another way - long ago Israelis 'owned' what is now Israel, aborigines 'owned' Australia, the native Americans (red indians) 'owned' America, etc. Over time other stronger people took these lands from them.

What do you think the reactions of present day Americans or Australians would be if they had to hand their land and power back to the 'red indians' or aborigines?

Well the Palestinians got 'shifted' to make room for the Israelis - and that is really what all this is about -

Who owns the land - the ones who where there first (the Israelis) or the ones who have lived there for the last 2,000 years (the Palestine?s)?

Either way killing each other is certainly not the solution.

I'm not sure the terrorists (backed by Iran et al) think that, they want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

They need to free themselves from their histories (not easy) and look for a future.

Talking is the only possibility.

Nuclear is much more likely.

I would imagine that both Iran and Israel would think twice about nuclear, but not for long.

Bolty, neither of us like with filthy raghead terrorists.......but you'd be a bit pissed off if you were kicked off your land so someone else could live there.

Well aye :D

But you are there with something to offer that nation, toilet training, table manners, simple things.

Your not plonking a flag down in someones front garden and saying, 'shift, that swimming pool and luxury BBQ is mine now, oh, and leave your comfy chair and plasma too on your way out'.

Well you see that opens another can of worms.

Israel has got the bomb - but up to now no other Arab country in the area (asianstan is a Muslim country with the bomb) as, BUT Iran is getting close to it.

So to stop them getting it - because no one knows really if they would one day actually use it - the west has imposed sanctions on it and Israel as bombed its factories that are trying to make them.

So Iran thinks the west is against it - so it is supplying weapons to Iraq and Afghanistan to help their 'freedom fighters' to rid their country's of the western armies (which of course includes ours!) that are there fighting to make the world a safer place - at least that is the way we in the west see it.

It is all pretty much a very tangled mess and not something that really as a clear end in site.

And in a way this as been going on for centuries - the Crusades - King Richard the Lion Heart, and all that was fighting the non Christians (and they fighting the non-believers) getting on for 900 years ago!

Sluffy how come you know so much about this shite? You make it sound more important than Bolton's latest signing or who is in the Rovers Return tonight ordering one of Betty's Hotpots.

I don't know what it is with me but I am fascinated with history in respect to everyday things.

Not just the type of dull stuff we all did at school like the Greeks or the Romans or even the repeal of the Corn Laws but things that are in the news and interest me like why did all the Credit Crunch start, or why are our troops in Afghanistan, or in this case why are the Hamas firing rockets into Israel?

I'm no expert on any of these things but I do read a bit about them and try to understand for myself what is going on.

I don't mind in the least trying to explain to people who may also wonder what is happening too but may not have the time or inclination to find out about it themselves.

At first I think well it's obvious what is right and what is wrong but more often than not the more you learn about the subject the less obvious it becomes. I guess there really are two sides to every story.

Perhaps I need to get out a bit more often!

I admire your quest for historical knowledge, but as someone who is shallow in comparison I am more interested in who wins the fight between Bolton fans and Mun?chs outside the Reebok in a couple of weeks time.

The President of the Hamas Supporters Club speaks. Israeli terrorists my arse - merely reacting to provocation so folk like you can come out in support of the downtrodden Islamic terrorists.

The stupid c?nts you support so avidly are obviously of limited intellect (and would happily slit your throat if they had chance). Who in their right mind would lob missiles into Israel knowing the arsenal they face? Stop the provocation - stop risking obliteration. Not a difficult equation is it?

Now then, I'm on nobody's side, the ragheads or the snipcocks, but surley you can see why they are a tad pissed off.

Absolutely. Not commenting on the root cause at all - I believe it will never be solved. Where do the Israelis go?

Commenting on the current (and recent past) situation where ours and Israels mutual enemy has fired missiles indiscriminately into Israel and then whinge when they get pummeled.

The thick f?ckers won't solve anything by taking on an opposition they are incapable of beating. It has to be by negotiation but, as with islamic terrorists around the world, you ain't dealing with rational, clear thinking, non primitive people. Will they ever learn that they can't win with their current strategy and stated aim of the destruction of Israel?
