medwaywhite Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 going to puerto rico next monday. any decent bars restuarants, can anybody help
Widnes Two Hats Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Yes The problem with Peurto Rico is that it's built on a big hill I stayed at the top so spend a lot of time around the Europa Centre which as it suggests is a big shopping centre but filled with bars and discos The centre is also quite decent but I suspect it will be a little quiet this time of year, having said that, the centre of Lanzarote was buzzing in December The Canaries seem to have been completely taken over by Irish bars so you'll find loads of Molly Malone type places PS, watch when buying electircal stuff, those Indian Mafia types who run the shops are very dodgy
medwaywhite Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 were stopping at the top, so thanks for the imfo
Mike Hunt Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 not been to Puerto Rice for about 20 years - let me know if Piccadilly Bar is still going in the centre Couple of half decent strip bars in the centre too.
Widnes Two Hats Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Walk down then taxi back up Don't attempt to walk it as I did one day Also watch out for the usual mitherers, the ones who give you a free scratch card that you always win on and have to go and collect your prize with them in a taxi, there's quite a lot of them about It's very much same as same as through the Canaries, Temple Bar, Linekars, etc. But I'd rather be there than here, it's f?cking freezing
Smiley Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 Churchills is a top, top restaurant if you want English fayre - but plenty of it. Owned and run by same family for long time. Not your typical shitty English type of place either. Always busy, which means the food is good. Its down in the main centre. Amadores is the best beach as well - man-made but pretty decent. Cannot recommend any decent bars as it they all seem the same to me - nowt stands out.
tomy taylor Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 When wanting to go out, take a taxi down to the bottom centre, much better. Best bar I found was Bar Caribe, next to snoopy's so "decent" music, but without having to pay alot for drink, (used to be euro a pint).

I second Churchills it was owned by Gareth Williams who played for the wanderers but I heard he was ill so not sure if he still has it.
nearlyeverywere Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I second Churchills it was owned by Gareth Williams who played for the wanderers but I heard he was ill so not sure if he still has it. the thing is,churchills is such a big place he cant sell it.it would cost to much.there are a good few bars in the europa centre, mike,a guy from wigan ,has a bar called the sportsman.he shows all the footy.on the bottom next to the scuba diving shop is a bar called "extreemz"as well that does a euro pint all day with sky sports.if you get a taxi down to the harbour, ask for the" salmon water taxi"its a boat that takes you round to "porto mogan"every hour,at half ten, they take you right out to sea looking for dolphins for the same price, about 5 euro.the beach at mogan is really nice and child friendly.plenty of bars and good deals on food overlooking the sea.been going for over ten years,at least twenty times, introduced loads of friends who love it as well.

Went in the late 90's, 98 or 99 I think... Was quality in those days, althought he Scando birds of choice were Norwegians then. And very friendly they were too. Happy days
Smiley Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Been 10-11 times - split between Puerto Rico, Playa del Ingles, Maspalomas and Bahia Feliz. Done winter and summer. Never had a bad days weather.... unlike Lanzarote/Tenerife. Worth hiring a car and seeing more of the island. Happy Hour - relates to the profits the bars make. You get 2 drinks for the prices of a small mortgage!!!
jayjayoghani Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Playa del Ingles This where the fighting, shagging, drug-taking etc takes place?
