I'd guess that if someone off this board has heard that such-and-such is available then so has every manager up and down the country.

It's one thing if we're linked to him (i.e. a "potential signing"), but when it's just any random player who becomes 'available', it's just a total and utter waste of time. Otherwise, the board would just be full of theoretical debates about every single player in the world who's out of contract or up for sale. It's pointless. You might as well talk about how good it would be if we signed Ribery or Kaka.
