October 26, 200916 yr Anyone know if the 3pm Kick Off is set in stone or likely to be made a lunchtime game (as used to be norm with "high profile" fixtures).
December 2, 200916 yr I assume they've upgraded the stand we were in last time seeing as though they're charging ?35. I'll expect a nice heated cushioned seat for that and not the wooden ones.
December 2, 200916 yr If your one of the lucky 150 then your seat will be plastic! (but next to the home supporters) If not, its wooden all the way!
December 2, 200916 yr I see that you have been flooded with offers I can if not already agreed As of now, I've had no offers! So, if you could, I'd be most obliged.
December 3, 200916 yr Just confirmed the booking on the Junior Whites coach, ?10 each for travel and ticket Having suffered the morgue of The Reebok so far, our eldest is in for treat for his first ever away match!!
December 3, 200916 yr I understand we have sold less than 1000 for Wolves on Sat with an allocation of 1500 at ?24. I cant see us selling out Burnley before open sale at ?35 a pop. I know its on boxing day but its still a bit steep.

December 3, 200916 yr The balls are weighted, a it were, at Christmas, hence it's normally a derby of some sort. your right mate, they actually hand pick the boxing day fixtures so they can try and keep everyone local due to transport issues, the computer then fills the rest in.
December 4, 200916 yr your right mate, they actually hand pick the boxing day fixtures so they can try and keep everyone local due to transport issues, the computer then fills the rest in. if so why did newcastle have to come to us on boxing day a couple of years back? there has always been jiggery pokery in sorting out the league fixtures it's not some sort of conspiracy
December 4, 200916 yr your right mate, they actually hand pick the boxing day fixtures so they can try and keep everyone local due to transport issues, the computer then fills the rest in. You know your stuff. Villa v Arsenal Brum v Chelsea (These two took some sorting!) B/burn v Wigan Burnley v Bolton (I'll give them their dues for these two.) Sun'lun v Everton (Again, it took some sorting to get a team so close!) F'lam v Spuds (Again, credit to them.) Hull v Scum (Close but could be closer!) Liverpool v Wolves (Not exactly local) Ciddeh v Stoke (Credit again here but could have been a lot closer.) West Ham v Pompey Ok, Pompey don't have much in the way of local derbies. So, 4 from 10 are local derbies. Yep, they certainly tried their best with these! It looks as though they decided that London, Midlands + Pompey play in one group and all the NW teams plus Sun'lun, Stoke and Hull play in the other group. One NW team (Liverpool), needed to play one Midlands team (Wolves) Alternatively, to keep travel to a minimum: Sunlun v Hull Burnley Bolton* Rovers Wigan* United City Liverpool Everton Wolves Stoke Brum Villa Flam Spurs* Chelsea Arse West Ham Pompey* I reckon my "hand picking" is better than theirs for every single fixture other than the four they got right* anyway.
December 4, 200916 yr your right mate, they actually hand pick the boxing day fixtures so they can try and keep everyone local due to transport issues, the computer then fills the rest in. In the past I have been to Wrexham,Middlesborough,Hartlepool and if I remember rightly flippin Orient for Boxing Day games....wasn't too local for me!
December 4, 200916 yr if so why did newcastle have to come to us on boxing day a couple of years back? there has always been jiggery pokery in sorting out the league fixtures it's not some sort of conspiracy that's pretty local for them doubt they'd have a derby with sunderland or boro on that day better bolton than pompey or london not exactly hand picked but certainly not random
December 4, 200916 yr I've never actually filled in a ticket aplication form? But really want to go thisa one and as we've only got about 3000 tickets, Can i risk to wait until Open sale?
December 4, 200916 yr Not making it up, the bbc web site did an interview with the guys who compile the fixtures this summer- http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/paulfletcher/20...re_compute.html Makes for a good read, An extract to prove my point- "He also manually creates the fixtures for Boxing Day and 28 December to try to minimise the travelling distance for fans. As Thompson readily admits, the computer has no concept of the distance between grounds" here are other factors to consider like every team is paired with another team i.e Liverpool and Everton so when one is at home the other is always away from home, think we are paired with Wigan and Bburn are with Burnely. The easiest solution would be to give everybody a local derby but the police who also get a say in the fixture compilation would veto this as Burnley v Bburn, Us v Wigan, City v United, Lpool v Everton, Bpool v Preston etc would cause havoc for the police. Have a read anyway its very interesting.

What difference does it make to Merseyside cops if Bolton/Wigan is on same day as United/City?
December 4, 200916 yr I dont know, I doubt that they would want all local derbys to happen on Boxing day as Sky cannot show the these games live, The lpool everton derby is usually on TV as is the city united derby so these would be broken up. They are trying to minimise travelling for away fans not give every team the big local derby. If you read the thread it explains in some detail the process of picking the fixtures and like i said they HAND PICK the boxing day fixtures so yes I do know my stuff!
December 7, 200916 yr ?35? To go to fucking Burnley? It's the only town in Britain that doesn't recognise a ?20 note. Fuck that.
December 7, 200916 yr Author Did we not once play southend on boxing day? Yep, I got the short straw and drove. Noon KO. Drew 1-1. Treated ourselves to the stand that day and sat. My Escort was back firing all the way there and back - though no fecker else was sober enough to notice!

December 7, 200916 yr My Escort was back firing all the way there and back Is that one of those euphemisms? Lucky you!
December 7, 200916 yr As i don't have a season ticket (due to work commitments), i hope they manage to get to general sale with "I've got splinters in my ass .... i've got splinters in my ass" being sung.
