Serious Question

Forgetting all the money side of things and the ins and outs of finances.

If the worst happened and we did go down this season. would you be that arsed on the 'fan' side of things?

Different away grounds to visit games Weekend and most midweek etc etc. Would you get the buzzback if we dropped down again to the Championship? Or has football died a global death?

This isnt a dig at the board or the manager or anything like that. Im just interested in peoples perceptions of the 'product' we watch.

I will be at most games all season and i want the best for the club but i will support em no matter what league they are in.

Would like to see us go down in a way.

Potentially better football, visiting different grounds (Forest, Blackpool, Bristol, PNE), change of getting to Wembley through the play-offs.

Maybe bring back a few of the fans (if we change manager) and recreate the atmosphere we had in our YoYo days.

That is the comment of someone who has spent more time at the Reebok than at Burnden Park. There will be very few new grounds for me as I've done the majority - been to Orient more times than I've been to Anfield.

Only one place to be and that's in the Premiership. Spent too long bumming around the lower leagues wanting to be where I am now, so I'm in no rush to go back.

Probably half and half... i went to my first game at Burnden in 88 started going regulary away 94ish

ill never forget the FA Cup win at Anfield when we were 'a sleeping giant' and dreaming we could be visiting these grounds

one day in the league. As much as we all love our era's the Premierleague is the place to be, make the most of it :good:

Or Potentially worst football, alot worst, and as been said most of the poeple that supported Bolton in the Burnden era have all ready been to most of those NEW grounds ... so I'm out

Like it or loathe it, the prem is the place to be

I'd still go no matter which division

The best place to be is definalty the Prem however I think the feeling about going down is tempting for some because, even though were in the top division we are in a league we can never win and soemtimes that does take the enjoyment away,

Think I might be in the minority as it would not matter in the least to me if we went down, in fact sat-wed-sat games would suit me just fine, many more local games, might end up out of pocket though as I am sure I would go to many more away games.

If you think the moaning and bitching is bad now wait until we go down. There will be so many nostalgia threads with Okocha and Anelka in them plus tales of Euro trips and suchlike it would make WW now look like a love-in. And what will happen if we do go down? All them that wouldn't mind dropping down a division or two will ALL be wanting to get back in the Premiership - how feckin' ironic is that?

In my mind I'd like to think we'd be high flying taking huge followings to Blackpool, Preston Cardiff.. The reality will probably be a half empty Reebok with next to no away fans and playing Peterboro on a Tueday night in feb.. Plus the fact I think on the finance side of things we could self destruct and end up going to Grimsby in 4 years.. Def stay in the prem.. I'm intrigued by how much fans of Ipswich, Charlton and Norwich are enjoying the adventure..

not forgetting moaning about 'the board' selling all our best players and not showing the 'ambition' to spend money to get promoted

Bolton will never have any real money till some Arab or billionaire buys it, we are a small club with small support in prem figures.

And a lot of winging supporters, who the Feck want to bye that.

Going down would be worse case scenario. If we did go down I think it would be a good few years before we come back up. Cant possibly see any positives in the idea really. Imout

What he said.

ditto

Also ditto too aswell. I just can't believe this question is being asked by someone who claims to be a Bolton fan!

I know you don't want this thread linked to finance but sadly that can't be the case.

If we go down, we are in a financial mess and that will very likely lead to a very poor offering of quality on the pitch. For many reasons, we have to stay in The Premiership.

Spot on!! :good:

The excitement of taking on the Premier teams and actually staying up has long gone. The thrill of then progressing and finishing 10th and higher for a few years has gone. The skillful foreign stars with their idiosyncrasies and their unpredictability have gone.

The honeymoon is over, sex is rationed and the kids are screaming. The mortgage is hurting and the cost of living is rising plus theres no holiday on the horizon....oh to be young again!!!

Micky i said in my innitial question i said i wanted the best for the club (which everyone knows its to be in the Prem)

I was just mearly wsndering about what enjoyment they get out of Watching Prem football. Or would more games, local aways and

different towns etc etc give them more enjoyment.

This is a lighthearted thread :D Theres far to many doom and gloom shiiiite :good:

When you looked up at the top from down at the bottom, you never want that view again.

You can make history playing in the premiership off just one big result, nobody really gives a fuck about the championship. I know where I would rather be.

Aye, have to agree with that post

The teams that go down and seem to "enjoy" it, do so because there's some momentum in doing such (sounds odd I know) or it galvansies their support (see Man City's us V the world approach), as for us, after so many years in the Prem and many folk not knowing much else, I'd really fear for our support and the club.

Alot has changed in football & the world since we were down in the lower leagues...some of my fondest moments are from then, but it's a cold reality outside the Prem these days

I fear that the fans who jumped ship for various reasons; too expensive, shite football, shite manager, not the same as Burnden, etc. are lost to us for ever . . . or until we get to a Cup final!

They have, by now, become big game fans. They can get from television what they got from live football. They can opt in for the visits of Man U and Liverpool, etc and opt out for Portsmouth, Fulham, etc.

Can understand the view's of the younger one's wanting to visit other ground and the like but me

and the other older ones have been there done that so for that reason i hope we stay in Prem

for as long as we can :good:

The only upside would be to increase the away grounds visited count

Having seen us in all divisions, I'm on a respectable 70/80 odd and wouldn't mind adding to it with some of the newer teams....prefer to do it in the cup though
