Having looked through the records not quite the lowest I see against Derby 2007/8 it was 17 014.

 

I don't think it's too depressing, you often get a drop just before xmas. Don't worry all the kids will be back, if not for the evening Hull game then in the New Year Oh and don't forget all the half season ticket holders

Can't give tickets away these days. Had 3 freebies, only taker was a City fan who would watch any game as long as it was free.

Don't forget, any night game mid-week on a school day is likely to lose a few thousand younger kids. As for counting S/Ts whether they turn up or not you'd need to ask the club. I doubt it though. It also doesn't help when you're playing at night against a team from the other end of the country. They were never going to fill the South stand on a cold Tuesday night.

Season tickets are not counted, if not used. Just the people who attend the game.

I reckoned about 18000 at the game and was not far off.

2 home games close together, mid-week game, shit away support (although granted a lot more than we would have taken to their place on a freezing Tuesday night), near to Christmas etc.

It might not seem like much, but...

 

a 7.30pm kick off at Burnden Park meant that a lot of kids could still get home at a reasonable time on a school night, as opposed to 8.00pm KO at the Reebok.

 

That's where our night crowds have suffered to an extent.

Bolton's traditional hardcore support could walk home from Burnden in much less than an hour, if necessary.

Blame the recession, school night, Xmas, whatevr folk want. Its clutching at straws.

 

West Brom got 21000 on Monday night. Norwich and Forest regularly get crowds in the mid 20's. Are they bigger clubs than us? Evidently so.

 

The damage has been done at Bolton and it will take a massive long term effort to get it back to the mid 20's every week.

I was wondering that because we kicked off at 8.00pm and so did Munich, I think, and yet

Brum and Sunderland games kicked off at 7.45pm, why was ours 15 mins later.

 

Thought maybe because Brum was on Sky but the others should have kicked off at the same

time, it wouldn't have made the slightest difference about the crowd size, but just strange.

What do you mean by "Damage"?

Seems obvious that:

 

The style of football

The lack of entertainment

The 'perceived' lack of value for money

The 'perceived' poor management

The lack of atmosphere

 

although not an exhaustive list of reasons not to attend, all have gone some way to providing folk with a reason not to attend.

Fans are creatures of habit, and when you break the habit it's easy to keep staying away. Last night's crowd showed it's not a cost issue (necessarily); people are starting to pick and choose more simply because so much of the last while has been tedious.

Last season was utterly unmemorable; the one before saved only by Europe.

Our combined "goals for" tally in the last two full seasons was the lowest two-season total in the club's history (bar the late 1800s, when it was only 30 games per season).

People are aiming to be selective; trouble is, when they start doing that, more often than not they end up being far more selective than they ever originally intended!

Who cares, football is sh?te anyway.

I don't know what number of Season Tickets have been sold this season but I'd say the majority in attendance last night were already pre-paid. The cost, therefore, isn't an issue.

 

I know folk like yourself also have a few quid to spend on travel but you're the exception to the rule.

That was the agreement with the council when the Reebok opened; so that people could get home (I think/recall) without getting clogged up in all the footie traffic.

 

That said, I'm sure that one match started at 7.45pm a few years ago.

Don't forget that later kick-offs mean the coroporate lot can eat their dinners and sup a bit more beer = more revenue.

The number of people who attend the games mean nothing to me.

 

The atmosphere is the important thing imo, and that was shite for 89 mins last night

I dont mind when we get a few less, most of the stay aways are moaning fuckers anyway. We could of had a full house last night and it still would of been a shit atmosphere because people were too busy huddling to get warm I thought there was a lot more patience from the crowd last night though and not much anger towards the manager which can only help. There was still a few moaning after 20 mins but theres always a few dickheads who sneak in.
