Recent Filums I've Watched

Book of Eli - Denzel Washington - took two attempts to watch it all the way through - a bit of a duff Mad Max type film. Watchable. 4/10

Green Zone - Matt Damon - enjoyed it, always like films based out in Middle East, etc. 7/10

Planet 51 - was enjoying it til I nodded off, kids liked it - must be good. 6/10

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - see above - 6/10

Good Will Hunting - Matt Damon/Robin Williams - look, there was fook all else on this Saturday just gone, never seen it before - quite enjoyed - the scene were Robin Williams was going on about his late wife farting in bed had me in tears - half decent. Oh, and Minnie Driver looked far better than I can ever remember. 7/10

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - its Swedish so no famous actors/actresses - great thriller - didn't bother me that it was in subtitles great revenge scene on the pervy Probation Officer- looking forward to the 2nd in the trilogy in the next week or so - well worth the watch and highly recommended. 9/10

That's me, Jonathan Woss, over and out.

Oscar winner.

I just wondered why someone thinks he works better as a supporting actor than the lead, when he played the lead role in that particular film.

Appreciate that he was the lead there, but I think that the change in his career from the rom-com tripe of the 90's to his renaissance period today is marked by a change of tack from being the main name on the poster to often taking up the more interesting roles behind the lead actor - Wolf of Wall Street for example, and roles in the likes of Killer Joe, Magic Mike etc

I'd say he was the main mon in killer Joe, around the same time as the Lincoln lawyer too

90s rom com? You're not thinking of a time to kill are you?

Nah, all that Kate Hudson stuff he did - probably in 2000s thinking on.

Anyway, point is that he's good now, basically, and wasn't before.

Watched James Bond yesterday "Live and let die" and James was tracking a man and ended up in Harlem where he walked into a bar and was called by the locals a "cue ball" and a "honky" 3 times..................WTF

Watched I, Frankenstein last night.

Fucking rubbish.  3.5/10

... and 2.5 out of that was purely down to Yvonne Strahovski being in it.

I think I love her.  She's beautiful.

Yvonne-Strahovski-Chuck-promo-season-2-1

ah, good old hannah mckay

Indeed.  I love her so much I reckon, if it boiled down to it, I'd even go in after you.

she is in the new 24

Chuck & Dexter, both series Sky stopped from showing on terrestrial tv. Chucks back on but its re-runs of the 1st 2 series. I hate Sky Tv.

Showtime?

Nebraska. 8.5/10. Sad and funny at the same time. Arty film which captures the plains scenery and the empty lives of many of those living in these remote mid west small towns.

If you like that one, check out 'Winters Bone', a similar film about folk scratching a living making and selling crystal meth in the bleak backwoods of the mid west.

Anyone seen 'Grand Hotel Budapest' yet? Is it worth seeing?

That's ace!  I'm getting one.

A worthy replacement for the Bat Mug I use at work.

Re the filum, has anyone seen it yet?  I really want to watch it but am scared it'll be shit.

Film is abysmal. Watched the Oldboy remake too and that was the same.

Remaking for remaking's sake. Pointless.

I get it when they remake foreign films, as some people won't watch them otherwise

The Departed was a good un, though Infernal Affairs was better

the US version of The Ring was better than the Jap one for me

not seen the Oldboy but got it lined up - though more often than not the US ones just don't shock in the same way as Asian Extreme

don't see point in remaking 80s/90s action films though, ones that were so good anyway

the US version of The Ring was better than the Jap one for me

I'm of this opinion for most Japanese remakes (Battle Royale aside) - I just don't think Japanese emotions translate well into English speaking countries. The actors all just look terrible in them.
